(CNN) — One hundred million adults in the United States are already fully vaccinated, White House coronavirus response director Jeff Zients announced Friday.
“There are 100 million Americans with a sense of relief and tranquility, knowing that after a long and hard year, they are protected from the virus,” Zients told reporters at an information session of the White House on covid-19.
And he went on to refer to what it means “to know that their decision to get vaccinated not only protects themselves, but also protects their families, their friends and their communities.”
“One Hundred Million Americans Who Can Follow New CDC Guidance Released This Week And Enjoy Going To The Park With Their Family, Dining And Socializing With Friends Outdoors And Many More Outdoor Activities Without Wearing A Mask Zients said.
CNN reports that Biden’s coronavirus advisers are moving to the next phase of their response, which is to increase the availability of covid-19 vaccines to reach those who have not yet been vaccinated.
White House officials have three overarching goals for the next 100 days: increase accessibility, combat misinformation, and help those who don’t have the resources to get vaccinated.
As of this Friday morning, the United States had administered approximately 237 million injections of the three approved covid-19 vaccines, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).
The Biden administration doubled and exceeded its initial target of 100 million doses of the COVID-19 vaccine administered in its first 100 days, reaching the 200 million figure on April 21. The administration has been quick to apply the vaccines as the variants spread across the country.
The White House has allocated resources to educate the American public about the safety and efficacy of the three covid-19 vaccines that have been authorized for emergency use by the United States Food and Drug Administration (FDA, for its acronym in English).
The Biden administration launched television ads to encourage vaccination and increase public confidence in vaccines as distribution increases.
He also announced that nearly $ 10 billion will be earmarked to increase access to vaccines and trust in the most affected communities across the country. From this budget, $ 3 billion in CDC funding will go. The purpose is to support outreach efforts in the states through trusted community organizations and community leaders.
Biden has said that there will be enough vaccinations for all adult Americans by the end of May. All Americans over the age of 16 can now receive the Covid-19 vaccine nationwide.
