The demand of the associations has increased and “it is necessary to provide the program with sufficient resources”, affirms the Board
The great demand of the commonwealths for the practice of sports has caused more money to be invested in revitalizing the sport. For this reason, the Governing Council of the Junta de Extremadura has authorized this Wednesday the formalization of the inter-administrative agreement between the Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Sports with the councils of Cáceres and Badajoz for the development of the Sports Dynamization Program 2022-2025, which will have a budget of 16,224,000 euros.
Specifically, the Junta de Extremadura will contribute 10,527,360 euros; the Badajoz Provincial Council will contribute 3,275,568 euros and the Cáceres Provincial Council will allocate 2,421,072 euros.
Thus, the total endowment for the program is greater than that of the 2018-2021 agreement because the demand from the associations of municipalities has increased and “it is necessary to provide the program with sufficient resources”, because “sports revitalization is an example of how the territories can be structured, ”as explained at a press conference this Wednesday in Mérida after the Governing Council of the Board, the spokesman for the regional Executive, Juan Antonio González.
In this way, all the municipalities of Extremadura with fewer than 20,000 inhabitants (381 municipalities) will benefit from the 2022-2025 program, compared to 360 in the 2018-2021 period; and 177 sports promoters will be employed (compared to 123 in the 2018-2021 program).
In this sense, he stressed that since this program was created in 1997, the two provincial councils and the Junta de Extremadura have maintained a “close collaboration” and “there are thousands of people in Extremadura who benefit from sports revitalization”, within of a “key” program so that there is a structuring of the territory and so that a minimum of services reaches all the municipalities of Extremadura.
“We are going to bet so that it reaches the whole world and that is why we are going to expand the budget and be able to hire more technicians to provide sports promotion,” he said.
With this, according to the regional Executive, this program will be channeled through the processing, by the Junta de Extremadura, of the corresponding call for subsidies in competitive competition for the hiring of municipal sports facilitators and coordinators by the associations of municipalities and comprehensive associations of municipalities.
It should also be remembered that this program was created in 1997 with the aim of promoting and developing the practice of physical and sports activities in the public facilities of the municipalities of Extremadura, through the unification of resources for a better use of the spaces municipal sports facilities and the provision of a higher quality sports service to citizens.
The aim is to guarantee everyone access to sports activities, physical education and the proper use of leisure, in addition to promoting grassroots sports.
