2022 NBA Slam Dunk Contest odds, picks: All-Star Weekend predictions, best bets from expert on 85-67 run

The NBA All-Star event that launched several players into NBA superstardom recommences on Saturday when four players compete in the 2022 AT&T Slam Dunk on All-Star Saturday Night at Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse in Cleveland. Rockets guard Jalen Green, Knicks forward Obi Toppin, Magic guard Cole Anthony and Warriors swingman Juan Toscano-Anderson will try to win the title that was won by, among others, Michael Jordan, Dominique Wilkins and Kobe Bryant. The high-flying Green, who was the No. 2 overall pick in last year’s NBA Draft, is listed as the +125 favorite (risk $100 to win $125) in the 2022 Slam Dunk Contest odds.

He is followed by Toppin (+175), Anthony (+350) and Toscano-Anderson (+475). The Slam Dunk will be the third and final event on All-Star Saturday Night, which begins at 8 p.m. ET and also includes the Taco Bell Skills Challenge and MTN DEW 3-Point Contest. Before making any 2022 NBA Slam Dunk Contest picks, be sure to check out the All-Star Weekend predictions and betting advice from SportsLine’s NBA expert Mike Barner.

And most importantly, in last year’s Slam Dunk Contest, Barner successfully picked Anfernee Simons (+175) to win. Anyone who has followed Barner is way up.

Now, Barner has analyzed the 2022 Slam Dunk Contest from all angles and just locked in his coveted picks and All-Star Weekend predictions. You can only see his Slam Dunk Contest picks at SportsLine.

Top Slam Dunk contest selections for Saturday

One shocker: After studying the Dunk Contest field, Barner is bearish on the chances of Toppin. A 6-foot-9 forward, Toppin is averaging 7.3 points and 3.6 rebounds in his second season with the Knicks, but he excels at playing above the rim. Through Feb. 6, 47.2 percent of his made field goals were dunks.

Last season Toppin finished second to Simons despite throwing down a between-the-legs dunk in the finals. “It wouldn’t be a surprise if [Toppin] won his second time around,” Barner says. Still, Barner has picked someone else over Toppin.

Barner has picked a player who has uncorked “poster dunks” this season. He is including this player in his All-Star weekend bets, and so should you. He’s only sharing who it is, and which NBA Slam Dunk Contest bets to back, at SportsLine.
