Like every year, the PC Gaming Show was absolutely overwhelming. No fewer than 54 trailers made up the bulk of a show of PC titles where there was something for everyone: from blockbusters to indie titles. We have selected (although at the end we give you the complete list and a link to the complete show) the seven best announcements tonight. Good times for the Master Race.
mythforce
Stunned we have been left with the sensational aesthetics of smorning morning cartoon from ‘Mythforce’, a kind of “Dungeons & Dragons according to Filmation” that marvels at how well the muted colors and limited animations of series like ‘Thundercats’ or ‘He-Man and the Masters of the Universe’ are replicated. And there also seems to be a frenzy of crazy action, so it’s more than just a nostalgic artifact. Fewer million polygon spawns and more cel shading Well thought out, that’s what we always say.
The Invincible
If ‘Starfield’ left you somewhat overwhelmed with its excessive possibilities, you may prefer a somewhat more limited vision of planetary exploration and loading the inks on mystery and continuous discovery. This ‘The Invincible’ will arrive in 2023 with essential authors as a guarantee: it is based on a work by Stanislaw Lem, the author of ‘Solaris’ and behind him are programmers from CD Projekt and ‘The Witcher 3’.
The alters
Virtually nothing is known about this game that, yes, comes with a prestigious studio signing it: 11 Bit Studios, responsible for two acclaimed titles such as ‘Frostpunk’ and ‘This War of Mine’. The plot of this cinematic trailer reveals the encounter of someone with what could be a series of their own clones in a futuristic environment, and the interview granted by one of its designers confirmed that it is indeed a mixture of a horror title, mystery and adventure: on an inhospitable planet, the survivor of an accident clones himself several times to survive. But of course, the clones have their own interests.
System Shock
The original ‘System Shock’ saga is one of the most influential and essential in the history of video games, and this remake is a spectacular facelift that tightens the screws on the most terrifying elements of the originals from the end of the nineties, but without losing the retrofuturistic element. In the presentation, the very same Warren Spector responsible for the originals joked about how technological advances have brought us closer than ever to the terrifying advent of AIs that he predicted two decades ago.
Deliver Us March
It’s clear that moody planetary exploration is the new trend in the industry. As long as it’s done as elegantly as Deliver Us Mars, we really don’t care. KeokeN Interactive and Frontier Developments sign this game with exquisite designs that has a release date and everything: the already very close September 27.
scorn
Many of the games that were shown at the PC Gaming Show had already been announced at other events. ‘Scorn’ is one of them, and news was also seen a few hours before, at the Xbox and Bethesda show. But this other preview is special: for starters, it’s told to us by none other than Doug Bradley, the unforgettable Pinhead from ‘Hellraiser’. His hypnotic and dark voice brings new information, such as the fact that ‘Scorn’ is not exactly a shooterbut a game of horror and exploration based on the worlds of HR Giger (blatantly but not confessed), where the shootings will be very punctual.
Decarnation
It seems that Junji Ito is about to turn around towards the massive recognition that he has deserved for decades. Added to his announcement last week that he is preparing a series for Netflix is his already brazen impact on all kinds of media. ‘Decarnation’ is not officially inspired by the work of the author of ‘Uzumaki’, but his influence is very palpable. You have it at the end of this video of news from Shiro Games, in what seems like a classic adventure with an air of JRPG for SNES.
