A judge for the district of New Mexico (USA) approved this Thursday the conciliation agreement between Alec Baldwin, as a producer of Rustand the family of cinematographer Halyna Hutchins, who died after being shot during the filming of that film in October 2021.
The economic details of this agreement, the ratification of which Los Angeles Timeshave not been disclosed, but it has been revealed that part of the economic compensation will be for Andros HutchinsHalyna’s son who was 9 years old when she lost her life and who cannot be compensated until he reaches the age of majority.

Hutchins’ direct family members filed a wrongful death lawsuit in February of last year alleging that Baldwin, as well as the rest of the producers, acted recklessly and did not respect the security protocols established for filming, which caused the death of the Hutchins. photography professional.
However, Matthew Hutchins, married to the director, surprisingly announced in October that he had reached an understanding with those responsible for the film for which he became executive producer of Rust and that the recordings resumed this year in the state of Montana.
The judicial approval of this agreement has come just over a month after the New Mexico prosecutor’s office formally dropped the charges against Baldwin.
“We are delighted with the decision to dismiss the case against Alec Baldwin and we encourage an appropriate investigation of the facts and circumstances of this tragic accident to be carried out,” Luke Nikas and Alex Spiro, lawyers for the interpreter, said in a statement at the time.
Baldwin and the Gunsmith RustHannah Gutierrez-Reed, had previously been charged by the prosecutor’s own involuntary manslaughter in the death of Halyna Hutchins.
The sheriff unable to find out
The cinematographer died when a revolver handled by the actor went off during the filming of Rustin Santa Fe County, New Mexico state, after Gutierrez-Reed checked the revolver and Deputy David Halls turned it over to him as a “cold weapon” without live ammunition.
Baldwin has defended his innocence in different interviews with the media, alleging that the responsibility to comply with gun safety in Rust was assigned to Gutierrez-Reed and that he never pulled the triggerbut that the gun went off because it was defective.
Hutchins’ death also triggered a series of cross-lawsuits in which Balwin sued members of his team, arguing that they gave him a loaded firearm; while Halls countersued for “active negligence.”
After the incident, in which the director Joel Souza was also injured, the authorities found test cartridges mixed with real bullets.
The investigation of the office of the Santa Fe County sheriff still hasn’t been able to figure out how they got to the recording set.
