Casa Sicilia has hosted this Wednesday, September 15, the visit of the more than 50 sommeliers who have participated in the general assembly of the Union of Spanish Sommelier Associations (UAES), held this week in Elche, in which the Vectalia group has collaborated in its organization.
The winemaker of the Novelda winery, Sebastien Boudon, has surprised them with a vertical tasting of the wines made with Grenache. Through a vertical tasting, he has made known to sommeliers different vintages of two of the most awarded wines from the Casa Sicilia winery.
The Cesilia Rosé Reserve and the Cesilia Garnacha have been the wines tasted by specialists in the winery’s gardens, as well as the Ad Gaude white, a wine made with Albariño vines grown in Alicante. The sommeliers then made a guided tour of the estate and the facilities of the Novelda winery.
UAES has more than 4,000 sommeliers throughout Spain, of which more than a hundred belong to Sommeliers Association of Alicante (Aseca). During the three days that the assembly lasted, the participants visited wineries in the area and held a showroom with the participation of all the wineries included in the OF Alicante at the El Huerto del Cura hotel, headquarters of the assembly, to which professional sommeliers and prescribers and professionals from the hospitality sector of the province of Alicante were invited.
Cesilia Rosé Reserve and Cesilia Garnacha
The garnacha It is an autochthonous grape from Alicante perfectly adapted to the harsh climate of Alicante. This variety is harvested by hand and first thing in the morning, in 15kg boxes. Perforated, allowing maximum respect for the quality and integrity of the fruit.
As he Cesilia Rosé Reserve like Cesilia Garnacha there are two single varietal garnacha ink. Pale pink, clean, bright and crystalline in color, Cesilia Rosé Réserve is a limited production wine that exudes subtle floral aromas on the nose, evolving into notes of peach and apricot. The mouth is fresh, delicate, with a good breadth, where we find the same memories of stone fruit, with a citrus and spicy finish. It is unctuous, very broad, with fresh sensations that reinforce its dynamism, it has a long and pleasant finish.
For its part, Cesilia Garnacha stands out for its cherry red color with a medium-low layer with a ruby rim that denotes its youth. With a frank and intense nose of red fruits, strawberries and plums and an elegant and fresh mouth, balanced, with hints of fresh fruits. The wine has a long journey and leaves us a fresh and unctuous mouth.
