Active health for tomorrow the heat alert in a large part of the Valencian Community

The Ministry of Health has activated for this Monday the health alert for red level (extreme risk) and orange level (temperatures that could exceed 39º) in practically all the thermoclimatic zones of the Valencian Community, following the predictions of the company specializing in meteorology and climate change Meteoclim, as reported by department sources. Also the State Meteorological Agency has activated the red alert for high temperatures in the entire southern half of the province of Alicante, and orange in the rest.

The red notice decreed by Health covers practically all of the Alicante demarcation: 108 of its 141 municipalities. In the Marina Alta are affected Alcalalí, Atzúbia, Beniarbeig, Benidoleig, Benigembla, Benimeli, Benissa, Calpe, Dénia, Gata de Gorgos, Llíber, Murla, Ondara, Orba, Parcent, Pedreguer, Pego, Poble Nou de Benitatxell, the Poblets, the Ràfol d’Almúnia, Sagra, Sanet and Negrals, Senija, Teulada, Tormos, the Verger, Xàbia and Xaló.

In Alto y Medio Vinalopó there is a red warning in Algueña, Aspe, Beneixama, Biar, Camp de Mirra, Cañada, Elda, Hondón de las Nieves, Hondón de los Frailes, Monforte del Cid, Monóvar, Novelda, Petrer, Pinoso, la Romana, Salinas, Sax and Villena. For its part, Alcoy and Banyeres are on high alert in Alcoy, and in El Comtat, Agres, Alcosser, Alfafara, Almudaina, l’Alqueria d’Asnar, Beniarrés, Benilloba, Benillup, Benimarfull, Cocentaina, Gaianes, Gorga, Millena, Muro, l’Orxa and Planes.

In the Marina Baixa, extreme precautions must be taken in l’Alfàs del Pi, Altea, Benidorm, Callosa d’en Sarrià, Finestrat, la Nucia, Orxeta, Polop and Vila Joiosa. And in l’Alacantí, in Agost, Alicante, el Campello, Mutxamel, San Vicente del Raspeig and Sant Joan d’Alacant. For its part, the Baix Vinalopó is fully affected: Crevillent, Elche and Santa Pola.

Finally, also in Vega Baja all its municipalities have a red warning for high temperatures: Albatera, Algorfa, Almoradí, Benejúzar, Benferri, Benijófar, Bigastro, Callosa de Segura, Catral, Cox, Daya Nueva, Daya Vieja, Dolores, Formentera Segura, Granja de Rocamora, Guardamar del Segura, Jacarilla, Los Montesinos, Orihuela, Pilar de la Horadada, Rafal, Redován, Rojales, San Fulgencio, San Isidro, San Miguel de Salinas and Torrevieja.

The only areas that will not be on red alert will be the more mountainous areas of El Comtat, l’Alcoià, Marina Baixa and Marina Alta, along with the interior of l’Alacantí and Foia de Castalla. However, there is also an orange warning here, so temperatures can be very high but not so extreme. The municipalities included in these areas are Alcoleja, Balones, Benasau, Benifallim, Benimassot, Fageca, Famorca, Penàguila, Quatretondeta, Tollos, Castell de Castells, Vall d’Alcalà, Vall d’Ebo, Vall de Gallinera, Vall of Laguar, Beniardà, Benifato, Benimantell, Bolulla, the Castle of Guadalest, Confrides, Relief, Sella, Tàrbena, Waters, Busot, the Tower of the Maçanes, Jijona, Castalla, Ibi, Onil and Tibi.

Health recommends avoiding going outside in the hottest hours of the day, wearing loose, light and light-colored clothing and protecting your head with a cap or hat. At home, it is advisable to close the blinds and lower the awnings on the facades exposed to the sun, in addition to being in the coolest areas of the house. Finally, the population is urged to drink water frequently, even if they are not thirsty; avoid excess alcohol and beverages with a lot of caffeine; and replace large and hot meals with cold dishes, fresh fruits and vegetables.
