An institute in the red can no longer buy flour or reagents for FP practices

Neither flour nor eggs for the food practices, nor reagents for those of quality chemical laboratory, either plants Y material for gardening. It is the situation in which they find themselves in the Virgin Institute of the Remedy of Alicante, as explained by the association of parents of students who, to draw public attention to the precarious situation, have launched an appeal through the networks for change.org.

“The center has run out of funds to meet its running costs of electricity and water, for the purchase of raw Materials to carry out the practices of the students of the training cycles of the food industry, nor for the reagents and materials of the chemistry family, and for the florist material, irrigation accessories, substrate and plants for the agrarian family and other expenses of the center”, they point out in the letter that exceeds the 200 signatures in a single day.

Light and water, as this newspaper has learned, are guaranteed by the agreements reached by the administration with the suppliers to maintain essential services such as education; However, the purchase of flour, eggs and sugar so that the students can exercise in the center’s oven is no longer possible due to the debt accumulated since the training cycles building was closed as a result of the cracks detected, which has led to the center to extract at least 2,800 euros from the money you receive monthly for basic operating expenses and rent another space for these students.

“The center has been paying all of the money from current expenses and that affects the education of our children,” they add from the AMPA after the report that was detailed before the school council of the center on the complicated economic situation they are going through.

From the Ministry of Education they assure that the territorial direction of Alicante itself, as soon as it became aware of the request of the AMPA of the IES Virgen del Remedio, «it contacted the directive to provide them with all the information regarding the situation of the operating funds for the center and, of course, they have been put in place to transfer funds from operating expenses to the center.”

The AMPA, however, has not eliminated the collection of signatures while the center does not resolve the lack of funds that it finds itself in at the moment and that has dragged on in recent months.

From Education they add to questions from this newspaper, having indicated to the management team of the affected institute “the administrative steps that must be taken in these situations, since the corresponding instances had not been processed.” As reported to the center’s school board, the management had requested an extraordinary loan and had been told that it was not appropriate.

The Educational Inspection, in turn, has indicated to the center that it must send a report on the extraordinary expenses that it is supporting as soon as possible to the territorial management.

«Once the center delivers said documentation, the territorial directorate has assured the AMPA and the institute that it will issue a favorable report quickly, so that the general directorate of Centers authorizes the contribution of extraordinary funds that the center needs. There is a firm commitment from the territorial management and the general management of Centers to speed up the processing as much as possible, ”they assure finally from the Ministry of Education.

More paperwork to solve a problem that has dragged on for months

The explanation of those responsible for education in the face of the flagrant lack of funds of an institute is that the procedures have not been done well to request more money. This newspaper has been able to learn that the situation was known because the closure of the FP center due to cracks dates from last year and the cost of renting the Juan XXIII Rooms for Alimentaria practices cannot fall from the sky to the institute. In addition, an extraordinary credit was requested and, if it was answered that it was not appropriate, it should have been informed at one time about how to properly process the request in order to receive the money owed. The parents’ protest has had an effect.

The AMPA estimates the accumulated debt at 69,909 euros

Exactly 69,909.39 euros figures the association of parents of students of the IES Virgen del Remedio, -in the North Zone of Alicante, one of the most marginal areas of the city-, the “debt accumulated in the center” for the extra expenses caused by the closure of the training cycles warehouse and the transfer, rent and technical reports whose expenses the center has been assuming month after month, until it could not take it anymore and has informed the educational community that it could not finish the practices of this course due to lack of funds.
