An ‘unemployment queue’ of interims asks Vara for fixity and stability

Protest before the Presidency headquarters. / TODAY

The protest has been called by the USO union and the Piltex association

An interim ‘unemployment queue’ organized this Friday in Mérida by the USO union and Piltex (Association of Interim and Temporary Labor Personnel of Extremadura) has demanded the head of the regional Executive, Guillermo Fernández Vara, fixity and stability for the group of employees interim public.

Under the motto ‘Interim fix now’ on a flag of Extremadura, fifty people have developed a ‘performance’ of a “single row of dismissed in the Board” mounted through a cardboard box through which different interim of the Autonomous Administration to protest their temporary situation, at the same time, under the cry of “Vara listen, we are people”.

Thus, with different signs and shouts, the participants have sent different messages to Fernández Vara. «This year my vote to hurt»; «We are not radicals, we are temporary»; «Neither submissive nor sheep, we fight for our rights»; “Strike, strike, strike”; “Listen, president, we are your people”; or “United temporary workers will not be fired”, among others.

The Board shows its willingness to negotiate the call for the stabilization of interim

The protest is part of the actions that the USO and Piltex union are developing in the region to protest the situation of interim workers, including a “strike” in the regional Administration since Wednesday of last week and an “indefinite strike” scheduled to start next Monday, the 30th, as explained in statements to the media by the USO coordinator in Extremadura, Luis Manuel Gil, who has made a “quite positive” assessment of the monitoring of the “strike”.

Strike in the Administration

Thus, he has affirmed this “strike” that began last week is being followed by “around 10 percent” of the personnel who are affected by the process of stabilizing public employment in the regional Administration “according to the data provided by the Board of Extremadura”, and by 2 percent of “all” the workers of said administration.

“It is positive, because we are losing to go out into the street, to raise our voices despite all the impediments that are being placed on us by the Administration when it comes to being able to go out and demonstrate,” Gil said, who He has criticized that last week the three concentrations that the union had requested were “prohibited” and this week “minimum services have also been changed.”

In any case, the trade unionist has asked the president of the Board to resume the “dialogue” in the face of the stabilization process in the regional Administration. “We do not want to be on strike, this is the last alternative that they have left us to reach the claim, and today we are still waiting for answers,” he snapped.

Thus, he recalled that USO asks the Board for a “fair” stabilization process in which both experience and training in the job are valued “as it has to be valued”, since in the draft presented by the Administration the maximum evaluation of the experience is “10 years”, when the union requests that “everything that is the working life of the person in the Public Administration” be valued.

Regarding Fernández Vara’s agreement to resume negotiations on public employment with the CCOO and UGT, Luis Manuel Gil has indicated that “for the moment” USO has not received any communication from the Board to do the same, although in all case has considered that it is “positive” that there has been “already agreement or rapprochement with other unions”.

“We have no problem with that agreement, that follow-up, and hopefully through those unions that agreement is reached and that these people can stabilize their jobs. We have no problem with the agreement being through whatever it is, the Strike Committee or any other union”, the head of USO snapped, who nevertheless stated that “the logical thing” would be that “all the unions » remain «together, in common with the defense of the rights» of temporary public employees.

I treat the storms

In turn, the president of the Piltex Association (Interim and Temporary Labor Platform of Extremadura), Marisa González, has been “very proud” of the follow-up that public employees in a temporary situation in the regional Administration are doing of the protests and the “strike” called in the community.

“People have finally raised their heads. We are no longer a submissive group and afraid of standing against our payers, and we fight for our rights”, he snapped, who has indicated that the people who are protesting their employment situation “are fathers and mothers of families who are fighting for their children’s bread, against an Administration that does not understand why it has opened the ban on temporary staff and wants to get rid of them.

“What (the Board) is doing is exterminating us in any way they can. Those responsible or those responsible for the competent Administration have opened the ban and exterminated us (public employees in a temporary situation », he has influenced.

Thus, he stressed that the “only” thing they are demanding is that Law 20/2021 be “complied with”, which “is not a panacea but it can solve the matter at the moment for many people who have been maintaining the Administration for decades.” “Why are we treated this way?” asked Marisa González.

Finally, on the call for an “indefinite strike” starting next Monday in the regional administration, he pointed out that it should be the Board “that assesses what may happen from next week.”
