API markets will dominate network automation in 2022

As an increasing number of consumers and businesses incorporate the web and mobile applications into their daily routines, organizations are discovering new and valuable uses for data sources.

APIs (Application Programming Interfaces) are the tools that allow companies to put that data to work, inspiring innovative developers to create new business opportunities and improve existing products, systems and operations. APIs are building blocks for digital transformation, an effective API can give customers and prospects new reasons to interact with and connect with a company on a personal level, and to share their experiences with others.

Companies and their technology partners share identical basic goals: to improve customer experiences at lower cost and at a faster rate of innovation. However, putting in place a platform to support these types of environments is only one piece of the puzzle. It is equally important to create a catalyst to provide digital experiences that act as the dominant way for both consumers and businesses to consume services.

APIs (Application Programming Interfaces) will be the key first step in achieving this goal. Basic processes such as inventory, performance management, change management, change requests, alarm generation and trouble tickets are just basic requirements. A more dynamic environment will be needed to ensure that operators become true partners with the businesses they serve.

API marketplaces will become the primary means of delivering peer-to-peer connectivity

API marketplaces will provide peer-to-peer environments that encourage new alliances built around system integration and service consumption.

The APIs will enable businesses to dynamically adjust bandwidth, storage, policies and traffic patterns in real time.

Sales and support teams will shift their focus from human intervention to code and machine driven solutions.

Interactions between machines free human interaction leaving it for more important issues.

And while facilitating customer-driven change through a digital experience is a good experience, it’s even better when adjustments are made in real time, based on dynamic changes in the environment. Having the network infrastructure and cloud capabilities that provide this freedom to enable companies to adjust their technology offerings on demand is a critical differentiator.
