Waiting is the hardest part of Formula 1.
In a sport focused on continuous speed, the differences between F1 racing can be excruciating for fans, drivers and teams alike. After an exciting opening race in which Lewis Hamilton and Max Verstappen met in a duel for first place, Hamilton and Mercedes enter a short break at pole position in the drivers and constructors standings.
The riders then head to Italy for the first of two scheduled races within Italian borders in the 2021 season.
Here’s what you need to know about the upcoming F1 race:
Is there a Formula 1 race today?
- Upcoming F1 race: Emilia Romagna Grand Prix, Enzo and Dino Ferrari International Circuit
- Date: April 18 (career); April 16 (first practice)
- Turn off the lights: 9 am ET
After a wild opening weekend at the Bahrain Grand Prix, F1 drivers are off the track for the next few weeks until the Emilia Romagna Grand Prix at the Autodromo Internazionale Enzo e Dino Ferrari, colloquially known as Imola, the city in which it is located.
The circuit, which hosted the San Marino Grand Prix from 1980 to 2006, returned in 2020 in the season shortened by the coronavirus. This year, the circuit returns once again, replacing the Chinese Grand Prix, which was postponed.
In 2020, Lewis Hamilton, shocking we know, took home the race victory over his teammate Valtteri Bottas, with Daniel Ricciardo filling the podium at the rear. Five drivers did not finish the race in 2020, which means more mischief could come on race day
Formula 1 Calendar 2021
