A 28-year-old man has been arrested by the Civil Guard of Cáceres for three crimes against road safety and one of injuries due to serious recklessness, after allegedly causing a traffic accident in which another driver was injured, and leaving then the place of the accident without helping her. In addition, after being located by the Civil Guard, he refused to carry out the breathalyzer tests.

The events took place in the early hours of April 15, when there was a traffic accident between two vehicles on the EX−206 road (Cáceres-Medellín), in the municipality of Torreorgaz (Cáceres), which resulted in The driver of the hit vehicle was injured, and where the driver of the vehicle that had supposedly caused it, left the place without helping her.

A search for the escaped vehicle, by monitoring the remains of waste derived from the collision, led the agents to locate it in the garage of a house located in a town near the accident site, according to the Civil Guard of Cáceres in a note of press.

After observing that the vehicle showed obvious damage compatible with the accident under investigation, the agents interviewed the inhabitant of the house, who was clearly under the influence of alcoholic beverages, who denied having used the car and also refused to carry out any type of test to check for possible alcohol intoxication.

In subsequent days, different investigation procedures were carried out to try to clarify the facts and to be able to determine its authorship, intervening agents of the Traffic Investigation and Analysis Group (GIAT) of the Traffic Subsector of Cáceres, whose expert report, together with the rest of evidence obtained during the investigation, allowed the authorship of the accident to be attributed to a 28-year-old man, residing in a town near the place of the accident, who ended up being the one who had initially denied the facts before the agents .

This driver has been investigated for three alleged crimes against road safety, consisting of leaving the scene of the accident, sentenced to six months to four years in prison and deprivation of the right to drive motor vehicles from one to four years; for driving under the influence of alcoholic beverages, for which the Criminal Code provides for prison sentences of three to six months or a fine of six to twelve months or work for the benefit of the community of 31 to 90 days and deprivation of the right to drive vehicles motorized from one to four years; in addition to the crime of refusal to submit to the legally established tests for checking blood alcohol levels, punishable by imprisonment from six months to one year and deprivation of the right to drive motor vehicles from one to four years; Likewise, he has been investigated for an alleged crime of injury due to serious recklessness, punishable by a prison sentence of one to three years.

The proceedings initiated have been sent to the Court of First Instance and Instruction No. 7 of Cáceres.
