At least 14 people were killed over the weekend in Puerto Rico amid police absenteeism

The most recent murder occurred on Sunday at 11:07 pm (local time) in the Buen Consejo neighborhood, in the San Juan sector of Río Piedras.

Based on preliminary information and in circumstances that are under investigation, the authorities were alerted through the 911 Emergency System, about a serious assault at the scene.

When the police arrived, they found a man wounded by a bullet inside a vehicle. The victim was transported to the Río Piedras Medical Center, where he later died. At the moment, the deceased has not been identified.

According to the data, the man had multiple tattoos on both arms.

Even on Sunday morning, specifically at 10.06 in the morning, another murder and a gunshot wound were also reported in the Buen Consejo neighborhood.

Almost an hour before the murder reported on Sunday night in the aforementioned neighborhood, the authorities reported another homicide at 10.12 at night on Highway 844, on the Marcelino Díaz road in the Carraízo neighborhood in Trujillo Alto, a municipality near San Juan. .

In San Juan, specifically, five murders were recorded over the weekend, including the two in the Buen Consejo neighborhood and another two on Sunday afternoon on 65 de Infanteria Avenue.

All these crimes occur in the midst of a strike by state police to protest their precarious pensions and call for job improvements.
