Australia v France: third rugby union test match – live! | Sport

France XV

Australia XV

Hello everyone and welcome to the live coverage of tThe third and final test of the series between the Wallabies and France. Kick-off at Suncorp Stadium in Brisbane is at 8pm AEST.

Once again with the feeling that this uniform series comes to an end with a decisive in which the winner takes it all. By “everyone”, I mean the Trophée des Bicentenaires which is always in play when these occasional enemies cross paths. And by “even” I mean that it is a test each, and 49 in the cumulative score of the first two matches.

It is a testament to the depth of French rugby that they have fought so hard on this leg of a tour with a mostly second-rate group. But for a catastrophic final play in Test 1, they could return to Queensland with the series stitched up.

It has been a puzzling couple of outings for Australia. They’ve been up front most of the time, but their game has also been plagued with mistakes and poor discipline, while some of Michael Hooper’s calls on the field as captain have seemed somewhat arrogant in hindsight.

Coach Dave Rennie will have had a lot to ponder after a small loss in Test 2 earlier this week. “We were disappointed with the result in Melbourne and we will be willing to rectify that with more precision and composure at key moments at Suncorp Stadium,” he said.

I’ll be back with lineups and more shortly, and if you want to contribute something to tonight’s blog, you can do so by emailing me or tweets.

France’s 1976 Eurovision entry finished second to the UK’s Brotherhood of Man’s Save Your Kisses For Me. It’s a bouncy little ditty about counting to three that couldn’t be more Eurovision if I tried. There is also a puzzling early reference to Kafka.
