The new farm aquaculture group marine AVRAMAR, Located in the Alicante municipality of El Campello, it comes into operation after completing the construction works and completing thesowing fingerlings started last March.
With a dimension of 144 hectares, the new crop center Marinos joins those that AVRAMAR, the largest producer of fish premium of the Mediterranean, it already has in the Valencian Community, specifically in Calpe, Villajoyosa and Burriana; the latter with him same size and capacity than the new installation.
The species that the company will produce in El Campello, a total of 5,000 tons per year, will be sea bream, sea bass and, to a greater extent, corvina rex, the flagship of the aquaculture group in our country. The complex is made up of forty nurseries -each thirty-two meters in diameter-, of which ten will be installed in a second phase, scheduled for 2022. That same year, in the month of October, the first fishing will be carried out, since it will be then when the pieces reach their commercial size.
AVRAMAR’s strategy goes through creating a solid and competitive group, investing in the growth of its product portfolio and in the expansion of its markets, from its modern and efficient facilities in Spain and Greece.
A business group that will bring new perspectives to the aquaculture market and that it will lead a new era for aquaculture, strengthening ties with customers, employees, consumers and with society in general.
The Institute of El Campello Coastal Ecology has participated in the initial study linked to the project and, together with the Ministry of Agriculture and Ecological Transition of the Generalitat Valenciana, periodically carries out an exhaustive monitoring of the activity of the new farm.
An activity which has been received very well both by the local authorities and the Fishermen’s Association of the municipality, since responsible aquaculture promoted by AVRAMAR allows to produce healthy and nutritious fish grown sustainably in perfect harmony with the environment
Likewise, the company strives to provide added value to the local communities in which it operates. In the case of El Campello, AVRAMAR it plans to create forty-five jobs.
The mayor of the municipality, Juan José Berenguer, has given its support to the project once all the favorable environmental reports, both from the Generalitat Valenciana and the Institute of Litoral Ecology, and the positioning of the Fishermen’s Guild from El Campello “who will be one of the biggest beneficiaries of the project” in the words of the first mayor.
“That El Campello welcomes the birth of new initiatives that create jobs and, therefore, progress, is always good news. I insist that the fish farm has favorable reports from all the organizations that must express themselves in this regard, that it complies with all the requirements and that it will be beneficial for our Brotherhood ” has stated.
For its part, the president and senior patron of the Brotherhood, Maribel Marco, has highlighted the positive of having this new marine farm on its coasts, since “It is an interesting work alternative for professionals of the sea and, in addition, its nurseries offer areas of protection and refuge in sandy bottoms that favor certain types of fishing”.
Alex Myers, CEO of the Group at AVRAMAR, has been extremely satisfied with the warm welcome from the institutions and society of the campelleras and has highlighted: “Our work in the municipality will go beyond what an aquaculture operation implies and even beyond our own mission of bringing the best fish from the Mediterranean to the tables of the whole world.”
The company plans to organize, among other recreational and informative activities, visits by schoolchildren and other groups to the marine facilities in order to bring aquaculture to citizens and that they know the benefits of farmed fish.
An initiative that the company has been developing successfully in other towns in which it has cultivation centers, as part of its corporate social responsibility.
