Belarra, Iglesias, Chomsky and Varoufakis sign a manifesto calling for “full and lasting” peace in Ukraine

The text, entitled ‘Ukraine. Peace ya’, has been driven by a group of intellectuals and political leaders and among its signatories it also has the support of the former Minister of Finance of Greece Yanis Varoufakis, the former president of Ecuador Rafael Correa, the doctor and sociologist Vicenç Navarro and the president of the Culture of Peace Foundation and former director general of UNESCO, Federico Mayor Zaragoza .

“As the war intensifies, the risk of nuclear annihilation grows. The social and economic consequences of this war are already being felt in Ukraine, Russia and throughout the world,” the text collects. Therefore, they demand an “immediate ceasefire” and support “negotiations for a full and lasting peace”for which the United Nations and other relevant international organizations “must be ready to guarantee any agreement.”
