Keep some of the Christmas events focused on children despite the health situation caused by covid-19. The Benidorm City Council plans to organize, with the help of Baltimore Producciones, the promoter that organizes the Low Festival, different children’s shows, theater shows and live music for the Christmas season, which will take place in the Julio Iglesias auditorium in the Parque de l’Aigüera.
‘Benidorm Christmas Dreams’, which is the name given to the program, will start on December 5 and will last until January 2, as announced this Thursday by the mayor of Benidorm, Toni Pérez, and the head of the promoter, Carolina Rodríguez, together with the councilors of Fiestas and Culture, Jesús Carrobles and Jaime Jesús Pérez.
Among the main novelties of this program, which will replace the children’s entertainment activities that used to be held in previous years in the Plaza de la Navidad, is not only the stage, but also the fact that to attend it will be necessary to buy a ticket in advance . The reason is none other than the restrictions imposed to prevent COVID-19 infections, which require limiting and controlling the capacity, as well as keeping distances between the attending public and other security measures, as explained. In any case, Carolina Rodríguez explained that they have set some “affordable prices”, ranging between 2 and 10 euros, depending on the show.
The only activities that will be free are the two concerts that will be offered by the L’Illa de Benidorm Musical Society and the Benidorm Musical Union, on December 6 and 13, respectively.
For his part, the mayor has pointed out that “in this atypical 2020” and “despite the uncertainties” Benidorm “has to live and enjoy” these dates and “offer a Christmas at the height of its neighbors, especially the little ones, and also for those who want to share it with us ”. “There is a reality – he added – that is imposed on us by the health crisis and that forces us to dispense with initiatives or activities that were part of the collective imagination of Christmas in Benidorm, and that leads us to reformulate others as we are doing with this’ Benidorm Christmas Dreams’ ”.
Likewise, it has indicated that for the 15 scheduled activities “all security measures will be observed, controlling the capacity and guaranteeing safety distances between the attendees “, as was done last summer in the cultural activities that were also held in this same venue.
In the program we find activities “to enjoy with the family, theater shows and concerts oriented for children and suitable for adult audiences”; as well as two acoustic and electroacoustic live performances by artists from the national scene, and “concerts by our three musical entities: the Musical Union, the l’Illa Musical Society and the La Nova Musical Society ”, as explained by the municipal representatives.
For her part, Carolina Rodríguez pointed out that “in difficult times it is necessary to demonstrate once again that culture is safe, as we already did this summer ”with the different cycles held in the Julio Iglesias auditorium; and has transferred that the programming of the ‘Benidorm Christmas Dreams’ is “very funny and attractive and with a very Christmas spirit ”.
Rodríguez explained that, although with current restrictions there could be a capacity of up to 800 attendees As a public, the capacity at all times will be modulated according to the health guidelines established by the competent authorities.
