US President Joe Biden had a “wall” built around his summer home in Delaware at a cost of more than $ 455,000.
Data from USAspending.gov cited this week by national media reveal that last September the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) awarded a contract to the construction company Turnstone Holdings LLC for $ 456,548 for the work on the “Summer White House.”
The agreement was for the purchase and installation of a security fence at 32 Farview Rehoboth, Delaware.
The contract that came into effect on September 21 it is expected to end on December 31; construction must be completed by that date.
As part of the agreement, DHS appears as the main contracting and financing agency, while the Secret Service appears as the subagency associated with the process.
The construction of the residential barrier arises amid the legal dispute over the stoppage of the construction of the border wall between Mexico and the United States.
This Thursday, Texas and Missouri filed a lawsuit against the Biden Administration for its efforts to stop border wall construction projects southern United States.
The legal recourse, which was filed in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Texas, states that Biden had no authority to refuse to invest the funds that Congress authorized during the administration of former President Donald Trump for the construction of the border fence.
For its part, the Administration of the Governor of Texas, Greg Abbott, continues to collect money through an independent fund that currently exceeds $ 54 million to a 2-mile concrete wall by State Loop 480 in Eagle Pass. Construction of portions of the wall began under the last Administration, but were halted by Biden and his team.
Abbott has held the president directly responsible for the immigration crisis at the border.
The issue has become central to the Republican’s speech, who in March ordered the presence of military and police officers in the area to help immigration authorities control the flow of foreigners trying to cross from Mexico to the United States. .
In June, the governor announced a state of disaster in 34 counties due to the increase in the number of immigrants.
Data this week from the Office of US Customs and Border Protection (CBP) revealed that 1.7 million undocumented immigrants have crossed the border this year, the highest number since 1986.
