The current champion of Spain and the circuit, Alejandro Climent, was only able to achieve first place in the first of the six races held, while Bruno Lobo took first place in the rest of the day’s heats. On the other hand, in the Advanced category, Ángel Candel from Mallorca continued in the wake of the previous day, achieving a first position in all the tests. Victor Buenavida maintained his lead in the F-one Amateur class standings.
The second day of the Cutty Sark “Spirit of Adventure” FKSS competition began with a dense fog that barely allowed a visibility of 150 meters at the Gran de Palamós beach. The Sun gradually dissipated the fog and with this the thermal wind took over the bay.
At three in the afternoon the wind quickly established itself with a south-southwest component of intensity 15-18 knots that allowed two blocks of three legs each to be chained together.
After the first round of tests, the Brazilian Bruno Lobo continued to lead the general classification of the Cutty Sark “Spirit of Adventure” FKSS Palamós. Behind him, Valencian Alejandro Climent, despite continuing to defend second position, was six points away from Lobo in the general standings, diminishing his chances of reaching the top of the podium.
In the same way, the chances of Carlos Puig from Castellón of snatching the second provisional position from Climent diminished, achieving two thirds and a fourth and distancing himself from the Valencian by ten points in the general classification.
In the Advanced class, the young Àngel Candel maintained his leadership with two first and one second, which was discarded from the classification, thus maintaining impeccable results. The provisional podium of the class was completed by the Valencian Adrian Albiñana and the Barcelonan Pau Soler in second and third position respectively.
At the end of the day, the young sailor from the Reial Club Nàutic Port de Pollença commented: “This is the first time I sail in Palamós and I am very happy with the results I am achieving. Also, I’m not used to so much wind, so it’s very good for me to train in conditions that are different from the usual ones and keep improving”.
After his participation in the Cutty Sark “Spirit of Adventure” FKSS Gijón and with the good results he achieved on the first day and in the first round of tests of the day in Palamós, the Catalan Victor Buenavida, in addition to leading the provisional podium, places as leader of the general classification of the circuit in the F-one Amateur class.
After returning to the beach around 7:30 p.m., Buenavida declared: “The day has been very difficult, I started with the 10-meter kite, which was too much for the wind conditions, so I had to change a 6-meter kite and I managed to finish all the tasks. Now that I am leader of the general, my goal is to continue improving to fight to maintain the lead in the next regattas”.
After the rest on land that allowed the sailors to hydrate and rest slightly, the race committee launched them back into the water to continue with three more tests, after which the provisional results of the three classes remained similar to the first three races of the day.
