LGBTI pride will be celebrated in Cáceres with an extensive program of activities that will take place over ten days with theatre, sports, book presentations, and a great march that will be the center of the celebration on Saturday, June 25, starting from Paseo de Cánovas to the neighborhood of San Blas.
Under the motto ‘Cáceres with pride’, the focus will be on culture and music as “key axes to advance in a fairer and more equal society”, said the councilor for the LGBTI area, David Holguín, who presented this Wednesday the program of which he has said that it is “intergenerational” and “is based on the claim”.
“It is a program that is conceived from the fundamental premise of activism, vindication and defense of Human Rights. This year comes with the involvement of more associations and companies that help make programming more transversal and reach all audiences », he highlighted.
As for the programming, it will begin this Friday, the 17th, with a tour of the Parque del Príncipe at 7:15 p.m. On Saturday there will be skates for diversity at 12:30 pm on San Blas Avenue. There will also be book presentations, so that on Monday the 20th at 8:30 p.m., Aníbal Martín will present ‘Adunia’ in the Anúmbara Space, and on Tuesday the 21st, Olga Ayuso and Diego Fernández will present ‘Map for White Elephants’, to 9:00 p.m. at Las Caballerizas.
Likewise, on Wednesday 22 there will be a table of testimonies on the LGBTI realities in Cáceres, it will be at 8:30 p.m. in the Corral de las Cigüeñas. On Thursday it will be the turn of the theatrical performance ‘It’s not Lucía’s war’ at 8:45 p.m. at the Rodríguez Moñino culture house. On Friday, bouncy castles will be installed at 8:00 p.m. and entertainment for children with the activity ‘Drag kids’ at 10:00 p.m., both activities on Avenida de San Blas.
The big day of ‘Cáceres with pride’ will be on Saturday 25, which will begin with two sports activities: ‘Zumba for diversity’ at 10:00 in the Bombo de Cánovas and ‘Volley for diversity’, at 11, 30 hours in the park of the Valhondo building.
The day will culminate with the protest march for diversity that will leave at 8:30 p.m. from the Bombo de Cánovas and will pass through the Plaza Mayor until it reaches the San Blas neighborhood, where the act will be held from 9:30 p.m. central pride in the avenue of San Blas.
It will be presented by Femurosa and will feature performances by Roser and Diva’s disco, with music by Cherri Coke DJ and DJ L’espiral and Drag Queen entertainment.
The program will close on Sunday, the 26th, with the ‘Special Dobingo’ at the Nebbia pub. Parallel to all the events, you can enjoy the exhibitions ‘Historias de la Resistencia’ in the Palacio de la Isla and ‘Queens’ in La Sindicalista.
During the presentation of the activities, the representatives of Fundación Triángulo, Silvia Tostado, and Extremadura Entiende, Sisi Cáceres, alluded to the worrying increase in hate speech and attacks on people from the LGTBI community.
