The Callosa de Segura City Council has arranged a series of aid for the self-employed and small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in the municipality, which have been affected by the health crisis, affecting the turnover of their businesses or, directly, causing the closure thereof. The grants are up to 2,000 euros per applicant in the event that the small businessman or self-employed person were forced to close his business, and up to 1,000 euros if they reduced their turnover by 50% during confinement, in the months of April and may.

The City Council will allocate a total amount of 70,449 euros to these grants, subsidized by the Alicante Provincial Council. Those interested can request them until November 25, included. The Councilor for Commerce, Vicente Mora, explained that the intention of the City Council is “to put our grain of sand in helping businesses, freelancers and companies that were affected by the situation.” The council has already communicated the call to the entire business fabric. “We hope to be able to reach as many people as possible,” said the mayor of Commerce.

The aid can be requested through the general registry of the City Council or through the electronic office (mandatory for legal persons). The grants are intended for businesses, businesses, freelancers or companies based in Callosa and include a series of eligible expenses. Thus, to allocate them to the monthly rent of the business premises, the applicant has to justify it by means of the current lease contract and proof of payment of the corresponding monthly payments. Advertising expenses for actions or events that have been negatively affected by the state of alarm made since February 15, 2020, and are necessarily related to business activity, are also eligible.

Other expenses for which the aid can be allocated are consulting and advisory expenses incurred as a result of the state of alarm. Also the expenses of contracts for the supply of energy, water, telephone or internet necessarily referred to the business premises, which must be justified by the corresponding proof of payment of the bank transfers, without admitting cash payments. The interest expenses of loans for the acquisition of the business premises or commercial vehicles are also eligible, as well as the rental of commercial vehicles 100% affected by the business activity directly affected by the covid.

The bases and forms are on the City Council website, where they can be downloaded. The documentation must be certified by an official body. This procedure can be done in the consistory, by appointment, which can be requested at the electronic headquarters.
