Camp Nou, with 100% capacity already at Barça-Valencia

  • Pere Aragonès announces the end of restrictions on outdoor sports facilities as of Friday

The Camp Nou will be able to function at 100% of its capacity as of this weekend. Pere Aragonese has announced this Tuesday that from this Friday the outdoor sports venues will no longer have a capacity limit, so that this Sunday’s Barça-Valencia will already be able to host up to 99,354 spectators.

Joan Laporta He regretted two weeks ago that, despite the Government having authorized 100% capacity in stadiums, the Procicat only increased it to a maximum of 60% in Catalonia. “It is a very great damage. I would appreciate it if you would give it another return because it hurts us a lot economically. If the League proposes 100% we would be more satisfied if the Procicat accepts it,” said the president. After knowing the decision, the club has expressed that “appreciates the efforts of all the people and applauds the Government’s decision to apply a measure that brings us practically closer to full normality.”

Key week

The Generalitat’s announcement comes at a key moment for the whole of Ronald Koeman, who will have three key home games in just one week: on Sunday against Valencia, on Wednesday 20 against Dynamo of Kiev (after losing the first two Champions League matches against Bayern and Benfica) and on Sunday 24 against him Madrid.

It will be necessary to see what impact the announcement of the Government has in the attendance to the Barcelona stadium. To attend the stadium the subscribers had to make a request to enter, although in all the matches there have been fewer requests than tickets available. After 26,238 ‘culers’, 8,000 more than last season, asked for the fertilizer leave, there is only 57,262 subscribers this season to the Camp Nou. This fact, together with the departure of the team and fear of the team, have meant that it has not been necessary to resort to a draw among subscribers due to low demand.

The match in which there were the most requests was the Champions League debut against Bayern (31,213). In the last clash at the Camp Nou, against Levante and with only 40% capacity, there were barely 27,429 subscriber requests and 35,334 spectators, 4,000 less than the maximum authorized capacity.

The club will announce in the next few hours that there will no longer be a draw for tickets. This Wednesday the executives of the matter will meet to analyze the new scenario that is being drawn. Now, knowing that it can count on all the seats in the stadium, the club is confident that the pace of ticket sales among non-subscribers will speed up.
