There’s a reason why he hangs out just below the edge
Andre Drummond is part of a dying breed of NBA players. He’s a true old-school center, making a living hitting the low post and collecting rebounds by the dozen. While other modern great men stretch the ground, Drummond rarely shoots from outside the shadow of the rim. Last season, 93.2% of his shots were from inside the paint (67.8% inside the restricted area), and on Wednesday he showed why he doesn’t like straying too far from the key.
Early in the fourth quarter, Drummond got the ball at the top of the arc and Jonas Valančiūnas gave him all the space in the world to drive to a point where he could actually shoot. But, when three defenders collapsed on Drummond, he desperately threw the ball into the air. Calling it a shot would be too generous.
In the words of Patrick Ewing, “Have you ever shot that photo? Are you working on that shot? “
However, Drummond doesn’t deserve too much teasing. He was the key to the Cavs’ victory in Cleveland’s 94–90 win, leading all scorers with 22 points and adding 15 rebounds. And not all of those points were pretty. Take a look at this awkward little 14-foot shove that found the back of the net.
There are no bonus points for style in basketball. Those two points look the same on the box score, as each of Drummond’s powerful dunks and deft pole moves. In the same way, the hilarious throw away from the basket is listed as just one more of Drummond’s 11 failed field goal attempts, so we should be thankful that it was terrible enough to be singled out by TNT’s account. ” Shaqtin ‘a Fool “to live forever on the internet.
The best of you
