China and Russia will use their accumulated experience in space science for this new project.

China and Russia have announced plans to build a lunar space station.

The Russian space agency Roscosmos reported on Tuesday the signing of an agreement with the National Space Administration of China to develop research facilities on the surface of the Moon, in orbit or both.

A statement from the space agencies of both countries says that it will also be made available to other nations.

This happens as Russia prepares to celebrate the 60th anniversary of its first manned space flight.
