Costa Rica vs. El Salvador odds, picks, how to watch, stream: Mar. 27, 2022 World Cup qualifier predictions

No team in 2022 World Cup qualifying is on a better run of results over its last five games than Costa Rica, but the country’s return to the World Cup could hinge on the result of Sunday’s match against El Salvador. The World Cup 2022 train has left the station for the Salvadorans, who have taken just one win and two draws from their last eight matches, but pride is still on the line this weekend. Three of the last five meetings between the two sides have ended in draws, with Costa Rica taking wins in the other two. You can see what happens when you stream all the action on Paramount+.

Kickoff from Estadio Cuscatlan in San Salvador is set for 5:05 p.m. ET. Caesars Sportsbook lists Costa Rica as the +113 favorite (risk $100 to win $113) in the latest El Salvador vs. Costa Rica odds, while El Salvador is the +245 underdog. A draw is priced at +210, and the over-under for total goals scored is 2.5. Sunday’s match will be streamed live on Paramount+ with their must-have Premium plan.

Concacaf World Cup qualifying picks for Costa Rica vs. El Salvador

Before you tune in to Sunday’s World Cup qualifiers, you need to see the Concacaf World Cup qualifiers picks from soccer insider Brandt Sutton. Sutton, a former collegiate soccer player, has been SportsLine’s top soccer editor for nearly five years. He has followed soccer closely for much longer and factors in managerial tactics, projected lineups and past performances to make the most-informed decisions possible, keeping his finger on the pulse of the game all over the globe.

Sutton has also been on a roll with his best bets, going 10-2 in his last 12 picks and returning nearly $700 for $100 bettors who have followed his soccer picks.

For El Salvador vs. Costa Rica, Sutton is picking the match to finish under 2.5 total goals at -120 odds. Even though Costa Rica has been winning most of its matches, it hasn’t been because it has been pumping in goals. Over its last four qualifying matches, Costa Rica has won three by a 1-0 score and took a scoreless draw against Mexico in the other. Meanwhile, there haven’t been more than two goals scored in any of El Salvador’s last four matches.

In the last four games, El Salvador has been outshot by an average margin of 9.5. In the only game the Salvadorans won during that stretch, against last place Honduras, they were still outshot 18-10 and had just 36 percent of the possession in the 2-0 win. Costa Rica’s top two scorers this year have just four goals between them, so while El Salvador remains the clear underdog, Costa Rica doesn’t appear equipped to score or win by multiple goals.

“I’m expecting to see a low scoring affair between these two,” Sutton told SportsLine. “Costa Rica has recorded a shutout in its last four fixtures, while El Salvador has scored just seven goals in 12 qualifiers. Plus, fewer than 2.5 goals have been scored in five of the last six meetings between these teams across all competitions.”
