Debut of «Palibex» in the Copa del Rey Mapfre

Palibex, a reference company in urgent transport, enters the world of nautical through the front door with its first participation in the emblematic Copa del Rey Mapfre regatta, which will take place in Palma de Mallorca during the first week of August. The debut of the Palibex sailing team coincides with the celebration of the company’s tenth birthday and the 40th anniversary of the prestigious Copa del Rey.

For this first official appointment, the PBX Sailing Team will have a competitive DK46 unit, with which it has taken part in training in the SM La Reina Trophy and which is based in the Valencian community.

The PBX Sailing Team arrives at the Copa del Rey Mapfre ready to give everything competing in the ORC1 class, the largest with 20 registered participants. This division, which brings together the longest vessels, is also one of the most international and will have representation from countries such as Norway, France, Italy, Argentina, Great Britain, Germany and Belgium.

During the 11 regattas scheduled by the organization over a week, the team skippered by José María Torcida will face units similar to his own, such as the Estrella Damm or the HM Internacional, as well as the TP52 Aifos 500, the boat that normally patronized by King Felipe.

Under the banner of the Real Club Marítimo de Santander and the Real Club Náutico de Valencia, the PBX Sailing Team, set up by Jaime Colsa together with José Vicent, has a crew that includes great athletes such as the Portuguese Nuno Barreto (bronze medal in Atlanta 1996), the Canarian Nano Negrín, who will act as tactician, or the Cantabrian Carlos Martínez, also world champion.

The list of names that form ranks in the PBX Sailing Team is completed with Nico Linares, Santiago Fiochi, Fernando Sauquillo, Alejandro Ramos, Joan Lladó, Javier Abril, Eduardo Navarro, David Peiro and Gustavo Benavent, all of them experienced athletes who already know the requirement of a test like the Copa del Rey Mapfre.

Heading the PBX Sailing Team is the Cantabrian businessman Jaime Colsa, founder and CEO of Palibex, who has decided to promote this regatta team within the link with his company’s sport, an innovative urgent transport network that has also been present in three editions of the Dakar Rally and will repeat in 2023 to vindicate the importance of surrounding yourself with a good team both in sport and in the work environment.
