First report from a reader at 3:23pm: “Omg!! Sounds like continued gunfire! Sounds like up by Van Ness/Univ of DC (also Chinese Embassy area). Lots more cops.”

3:31pm “Heard lots of bangs that sounded like gun shoots near Connecticut and Van Ness. A dozen or more cop cars and emergency vehicles are hauling it down the street. Any word??”

4:04pm get up: “MPD is responding to active threat at 4101 Connecticut Avenue NW. Expect heavy police presence and road closures. Please avoid area, and shelter in place if you are nearby. Updates to follow.”
