Digital economy, how to achieve greater success

The MWC22 opens its doors in advance with the help of Huawei, with its typical Huawei Day0 Forum, held the day before the mobile. Faced with an edition marked by a return to ‘normality’ and the recent veto of the Russian pavilion, the GSMA expects a gradual recovery of the figures it had before the pandemic.

Despite the clear objective to recover funds, forecasts show that this year 2022 is not the right one to rescue the main showcase of the Fira, with an estimate of between 40,000 and 60,000 in-person attendees.

The Day0 Forum has served to focus on the digital economy and the importance of 5G within the framework of new growth. As Ryan Ding, CEO and President of Huawei Carrier BG, put it in his keynote address “LightingUpTheFuture”: “Huawei will continue to focus on ICT innovation and enabling operations that ensure business success, while not forgetting the importance of sustainable development in the digital economy.

Digital Economy + 5G

The digital economy is developing at dizzying rates, and more than 50% of the World’s GDP will be digitized by 2022. In this regard, countries and regions such as China, South Korea and the EU have announced investment plans.

For this, there are 3 key levers on the configuration of the future of the digital economy: the density of connections, the diversity of information technology and the intensity of carbon reduction. With the increase in connection density, operators can grow their 5G user base, and in turn expand their scope of business. And it is that, by diversifying computing resources, operators can also create synergies between connectivity and IT for digitization.

For its part, the commercial deployment of 5G, which began two years ago, includes more than 1,200 commercial devices in use, which undoubtedly brings great commercial benefits to operators, while promoting the continuous deployment of networks. “ICT innovations such as 5G and the cloud are contributing to the drive for a greener world,” says Ding.

The Huawei Day0 Forum has revealed how to achieve greater business success in the digital economy

IT connectivity

As industries digitize, IT infrastructure will have to be rebuilt to drive more efficient iterations. By creating synergies between IT and TC, cloud and edge, and cloud and networks, Huawei hopes to help operators become digital and intelligent and achieve new revenue growth. In Asia-Pacific, for example, Huawei’s OneStorage solution has helped an operator reduce TCO by 30%.

Sustainability for a green planet

At the Day0 forum, the company took the opportunity to present its full range of green solutions, including a green site, a green network and a green operation. In this way, Huawei aims to help operators increase network capacity and reduce power consumption per bit.

It also proposed the Network Carbon Intensity Index to quantify the carbon emissions of the ICT industry and help operators realize their green strategy.

And it is that green ICTs are the key to sustainable growth in the digital economy. Proof of this is that the ICT industry is providing new technologies to help other industries reduce their carbon footprint. In fact, these savings are expected to be ten times greater than the ICT industry’s own footprint.

Mobile World Capital Agreement

Within the framework of collaborations, Mobile World Capital and Huawei have announced the signing of an agreement to promote and develop joint smart communications projects in all areas of the Foundation’s work.

The agreement has been signed at the headquarters of Mobile World Capital Barcelona, as a prelude to the long-awaited edition of the recovery of the Mobile World Congress. Carlos Grau, CEO of the Foundation, and Eric Li, CEO of Huawei Spain, have been in charge of signing the agreement.

“This agreement with Huawei reinforces and brings us closer to our purpose of promoting the digital development of society and helping to improve the lives of people globally. Having their collaboration and support will undoubtedly amplify the scope of Mobile World Capital’s initiatives and their transformation into solutions applicable to people’s daily lives,” says Carlos Grau, CEO of Mobile World Capital.
