Our first fantasy WR rankings of 2022 look forward to the best risers, sleepers, and downers in the deepest position in fantasy football. There are many who simply play in redesign leagues who are curious about the fantasy prospect at wide receiver next year, but those in goalkeeping leagues and dynasties are always especially eager to get ahead.
Davante Adams and Tyreek Hill have held the top two spots in each of the last two seasons, but this year, both are out of our top three as a veteran has emerged and two young receivers look to make the leap to elite status from good faith. Of course these rankings are for redesign and age is not everything, we have to keep in mind the guys who could suffer a decline at the end of their careers.
EARLY FANTASY RATINGS 2022:
Field marshal | Corridor | Tight end | D / ST
The rankings of players like Adams and Mike Williams could be affected by what happens in free agency, but Adams can only fall so far, and Williams isn’t very high on our rankings to begin with. It’s also worth noting that Calvin Ridley could be seeing a change of scenery as well. There are also players like Chris Godwin and Michael Gallup heading to the open market and coming off recent ACL injuries. Our too early preseason rankings will bring more clarity on those guys.
Chase Claypool, Jerry Jeudy, Courtland Sutton and DJ Moore are some of the WRs who are sure to receive passes from new QBs next year, and it seems their fantasy prospects can only improve based on that. If rumors of Aaron Rodgers or Russell Wilson heading to new teams next year are true, there could be a number of beneficiaries in the wideout. Obviously DK Metcalf and Tyler Lockett would lose some value if Wilson leaves, so there is always a ripple effect.
FANTASY 2021: great value equipment | All bust team
Wide receivers are always hard to predict, and at least a third of the guys in our top 36 will disappoint. Someone will come out of nowhere and be at least a mid-level WR2, and at least one newbie will make a lot of noise. This happens every season. However, we like that Amon-Ra St. Brown, Darnell Mooney, Hunter Renfrow, Gabriel Davis, and Elijah Moore carry their momentum from 2021 into next year as some of our top “breakdowns.”
The wide receiver is deep, so it’s difficult to immediately include a rookie unless there’s a well-defined elite prospect (like Ja’Marr Chase last year), but Traylon Burks, Garrett Wilson, Jameson Williams and others could. appear within our top. 36 preseason rankings if they land in the right situations.
