He argues that there will be no exams in September and that all interns will be hired from the 1st of that month to set the start on the 6th.

In Extremadura, the next school year will start a week earlier than usual. And it will also end seven days earlier, more or less than normal, fulfilling the required 175 school days in total. The Ministry of Education has decided, with the rejection of the unions, that classes begin on September 6 and end on June 19 for Infant, Primary, Special Education and ESO. In the first and second years of Baccalaureate, classes will begin on the 7th and end on June 16, in the first year, and on May 13, in the second year. The start of the course has another peculiarity: only two days of classes before the bridge, since on Friday September 9, after the festive Day of Extremadura, there will be no classes.

The school calendar also contemplates that on September 13 the teaching activity will begin in the second year of Basic Vocational Training, in the second year of Intermediate Grade and Higher Grade and in the first year of Basic Grade. On the 19th, it will begin in the first year of the Intermediate and Higher Grade FP cycles.

Education, to questions from TODAY, argued why the course is brought forward. “There are no reasons to start it later,” emphasizes the department headed by Esther Gutiérrez, who also argues that it is a measure that will favor family reconciliation.

In the first place, he places as a reason the fact that the month of September is free from exams for both the old Selectividad and recovery exams. Secondly, that all interims will be contracted from September 1, with which the templates will be covered from the beginning.

The Board adds, more specifically, that the extraordinary evaluation of 1st Baccalaureate moves to June implies advancing the end of its teaching activity to June 16 of next year so that the evaluation can be held until the 28th. It also says that beginning the course on September 6, the school calendar is equated with that of nursery schools and that of the University.

Education points out that, in practice, the course will start on Monday 12. “The first two days (6 and 7) presentations will be made and the centers can bet on time flexibility, starting the usual schedule from 12” as it is Friday 9 non-school after the Day of Extremadura.

The unions are not convinced by this explanation. “We have asked to start on June 12 (and end on June 22) because it is the most logical date, but they have told us no,” says José Antonio Romo, from PIDE. “Starting on the 6th effectively means that the teachers’ bodies have two and a half days to organize the classes, except that what Education intends is that they also prepare it during a weekend,” he concludes. Mercedes Barrado, from CSIF, adds that “the Ministry does not seem to want to know how complicated it is to start a new school year. He is insensitive and wants to tighten the screws on his workers. ANPE criticizes the “lack of negotiation” and the “rush” of the Administration to set the calendar.
