Education maintains the covid ratio in classrooms and exempts vaccinated students from quarantine

Although there are still unknowns to be resolved until the meeting between autonomies and ministries of Health and Education on the specific covid protocols for this course takes place this week, those responsible for the Community anticipate that “No need to quarantine” for close contacts of a positive case, provided they are vaccinated. The formal ratification of Health is missing but it is assumed that it will be approved this week “, they specify.

Marzà and Soler declined to shed more light on other possible cases, such as the situation of isolation between the schoolchildren of the schools that, since they are not vaccinated and the stable coexistence classrooms or bubbles in all courses, they could in turn lead to the generalization of confinements per classroom as a result of the pandemic.

«Everything is contemplated in the guide but we work with Health, it does not depend on us. They are more exclusive subjects of the sanitary authorities to which we obey », specifies Soler.

For his part, Minister Marzà emphasizes that although it is favored that students from different classrooms can mix in the courtyard of the same educational level, it should be done «always with a mask and a lot of caution ».

The head of Education weighs that the pandemic is still there, that the one that begins this Wednesday is not a course prepandemic still, and that compliance with the regulations against covid is still necessary.

On the other hand, the commitment to improving educational quality stands out very positively, among other measures with the progressive reduction of the ratio.

“The ratio drops this course structurally”, says Marzà in the face of the criticism launched by the representatives of the teaching staff. «There is an increase in the teaching staff and we continue to lower the ratio compared to the previous year. It is a powerful bet of this government. There is on average one less student per specific classroom.

Official data point to a ratio of 20.7 students per teacher, «one point less than last year. The teaching staff has increased by 2.4% and there are 0.35% fewer students “, he points out.

The province of Alicante is the only one in the Community with a positive overall balance in number of students compared to the previous year. It adds up to 147 students, but in particular it is in Vocational Training where there is the greatest pull in enrollment with 2,500 more students, a similar number to those lost as a result of the birth rate in Infants and Primary. Secondary also adds a thousand students in the province compared to last year and Baccalaureate around 200 more.

Regarding the teaching staff, there are 1,752 more for the province, amounting to a total of 28,149 teachers. The increase is destined mainly to institutes, in which the cododencia per classroom is recommended, which Soler equates to having two teachers for thirty students.

In the case of schools, the regional secretary abounds that they have autonomy so that the tutor also reinforces the group of students or subject that is determined by each center autonomously.

More digital

Educational managers also highlight their commitment to greater digitization of education. Soler emphasizes that the training for teachers in new technologies increases this course even with the purpose, he emphasizes, of following the pull in ICT communications that the pandemic has forced. «It has been started by force due to the context of the pandemic, but the educational digitization process and we are going to accelerate ICT (information and communication technologies) as a common element at all levels, both in methodology and in programming, facilities and new digital platforms, ”emphasizes the regional secretary.

The offer in VET has increased in turn at the last minute, especially in the health, IT and personalized attention cycles. “It is a commitment to society, with more educated people and more job opportunities, to contribute to the change in the production model,” emphasizes the minister.

The regional secretary adds for his part that in the coming months the result of the territorial councils of VET created between city councils, companies, unions and institutes, where the needs of both training and labor and future growth of each territory are analyzed, for which European funds will be allocated. “It is not just about increasing the supply but about adjusting it where there is less demand to increase the labor insertion capacity,” he remarks.

Other data provided on the new course point to a 5% increase in scholarship students to go to the dining room and that up to 88% of the entire province have free books, in addition to the fact that the province gathers the bulk of centers with works of improvement, 64 compared to 56 Valencia and 16 Castellón.
