The Department of Education is determined to put into practice the announced impulse to Vocational Training and, beyond the creation of the new digital and research center planned at the headquarters of Alicante Digital In the first months of next year, educational managers have developed individual projects that make this teaching more flexible to the point of allowing internships in companies in August.
The new regulations, to which you have had access INFORMATION, also explicitly specifies that companies will not be able to fill jobs with trainees, and constitutes as centers of excellence the most cutting-edge institutes that meet the requirements to lead research projects in Vocational Training.

Although the new regulations maintain that student practices will continue to be carried out in a general way during the school calendar, for the first time the possibility of doing them in the month of August is contemplated, provided that the student and the tutor agree.
Moving some VET practices to summer responds to the business demand to adjust this job training to the “seasonality of the sector” in question, seeking to link and improve relations between schools and the labor market.
Other reasons that are also considered objective to do VET internships in August refer to the possible shortage of training places, or to exceptional situations in which the internship period may be suspended, -as it already happened in the last quarter of the previous school year. consequence of the pandemic.
The flexibility of the VET internships also extends to their completion in various phases, which in turn includes the month of August, and to an “extraordinary” schedule, outside the usual one that ranges from 6:00 in the morning to 22:00 hours by adapting the working hours of the work center, and that can be extended to the night.
Always with prior authorization from the management of the center, the night hours of the practices are only contemplated for “the essential time” of the training that cannot be carried out during the usual hours, and also limited to students of legal age.
Given the power that is derived from the management of the centers for these exceptional situations, the new projects for VET include the historic request of the educational centers to grant autonomy to the directors. They will be able to adapt the training or practical actions to the organization they consider most appropriate for the students and their future work.
To put more emphasis on this, Education is also going to appoint a series of teachers who will be called “prospectors”, whose work will consist of strengthening ties with companies and promoting training linked to the needs and foreseeable innovations of the labor market.
Finally, in Secondary institutes that have the corresponding training cycles, unemployed workers will be able to take the training courses now organized by the Employment Labor service. “The continuous training for employment that was given from the Ministry of Economy will be shared by the institutes where a certain professional family is taught,” says José Gil.
New specialization courses start in Elche and Alcoy
The new vocational training courses, created on an experimental basis with 20 places each, have started this week in Elche and Alcoy. These are the specialties in “Security in ICT environments”, information and communication technologies, taught by the Severo Ochoa Institute of Elche; and the one offered by the Cotes Baixes Institute of Alcoy in “Intelligent Manufacturing”. The latter is aimed at promoting industrial innovation in the textile and plastic sector in the Ontinyent-Alcoy-Ibi axis, to develop the health industry project promoted by the Generalitat. Classes will end before June 23.
