Four educational centers in Baix Vinalopó, specifically three from Elche and one from Santa Pola, will be part of the first Network of Professional Training Institutes of Excellence that the Ministry of Education has just created. This network was born as a node of collaboration between its members and between them and the different educational centers that teach VET. In total, 30 centers throughout the Valencian Community are included and of these nine belong to the province of Alicante.
The objective is to stimulate and specify a common project, to program and execute actions of innovative, experimental and educational nature in the matter of Vocational Training. Elche is thus placed at the head of the number of VET institutes of excellence in the entire province of Alicante, followed by Alcoy (with two centers), Elda (one), Orihuela (one), Santa Pola (one) and Sant Vicent del Raspeig (one).
The leading centers in Elche are the IES Tirant lo Blanc, the IES Severo Ochoa and the IES Sixto Marco. The one in Santa Pola is the IES CAP de l’Aljub, while in Alcoy the IES Cotes Baixes and the CIPFP Batoi have been included. The CIPFP Valle de Elda, from the same town, the IES El Palmeral de Orihuela and the CIPFP Canastell de San Vicent del Raspeig complete the list of VET centers that are integrated into this new network.
The objective is for these institutes of excellence to function as benchmarks for innovation for the entire autonomous region in each professional family or productive sector. This first Network of Excellence was born with 30 reference centers of 22 professional families, since there are 8 families (Mechanical manufacturing; Electricity and electronics; Hospitality and tourism; IT and communications; Installation and maintenance; Healthcare; Commerce and marketing; and Textile, clothing and leather) that have two centers of excellence specialized in as many productive sectors.
The Baix Vinalopó will have four centers of excellence for FP: Three in Elche and one in Santa Pola. This region concentrates the two centers of excellence of the professional family of Hospitality and Tourism, since the IES Tirant lo Blanc de Elche will be the center of excellence of the productive sector of Tourism, and the IES Cap de l’Aljub de Santa Pola of the sector productive of the Hospitality. In addition, two other centers in Elche they will also be references: IES Severo Ochoa will be the center of excellence for the advanced systems production sector, for the IT and communications professional family; while the IES Sixto Marco will be in the productive sector of the Footwear and leather, one of the two regional reference centers of the professional textile, clothing and leather family.

On Alcoy, the IES Cotes Baixes will be the reference center for the automation and robotics production sector, one of the two that the Electricity and electronics family will have, and the CIPFP Batoi for the Personal Image family. The professional family of Transport and maintenance of vehicles will have a single center of excellence for the entire autonomous region, which will be specialized in combustion engines and will be the CIPFP Canastell de San Vicente del Raspeig, in the region of the Alicante.
