The Elda City Council, through the Department of Equality and the Sectorial Council for Women and for Equality, has scheduled a series of events on the occasion of the celebration of November 25, International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women. Alba Garcia, Councilor for Equality, explained that “This year, due to the pandemic, the activities will be online and through social networks, but the local government did not want to stop commemorating this day and talking about the importance of eliminating violence against women.”
The mayor has stated that “The first activity will be a short film contest with gender equality as a theme and which is aimed at young people between 16 and 25 years old. On November 25 there will be, as every year, the reading of a manifesto as a rejection of this violence that affects us all as a society. That same day, from the University Headquarters of Elda, two online conferences are organized: one in the morning, ‘Women and men, humor and vice versa’, by Belén Alvarado, at 09.50 am and you can connect through Google Meet. In the afternoon, at 8:00 p.m., ‘Gender violence in the cinema’, by Israel Gil.
Alba García added that “On November 26 we organized from the Department of Equality and the Rural Women Center of Elda an online workshop entitled ‘Minors, invisible victims of gender violence’.
