Eric Trump attacks Scottish politicians for debating family golf courses | Golf

On the eve of a parliamentary vote on whether an investigation should be ordered On the funding of Donald Trump’s Scottish golf courses, the son of the former US president has criticized politicians for “promoting their personal agendas.” Eric Trump issued the bulletin as the Scottish Parliament prepares to host a debate called by Patrick Harvie, the co-leader of the Scottish Greens. The executive vice president of the Trump Organization also described Harvie as a “national disgrace.”

Harvie is urging Prime Minister Nicola Sturgeon to seek an Unexplained Wealth Order (UWO) in relation to Trump International, a course in Aberdeenshire and the famous Turnberry resort in Ayrshire. If awarded through the courts, a UWO requires companies or individuals to detail the source of their wealth.

“The Scottish government has tried to avoid the question of investigating Donald Trump’s wealth for too long,” Harvie told The Scotsman. “There are serious concerns about how it financed the cash purchases of its Scottish golf courses, but no investigation has ever been carried out. That is why I am taking this vote to parliament. The administration must seek an inexplicable wealth order to shed light on Trump’s shady dealings. “

On Tuesday, Eric Trump responded. “Patrick Harvie is nothing more than a national disgrace with his pathetic antics that only serve him and his political agenda,” he said. “If Harvie and the rest of the Scottish government continue to treat foreign investors in this way, it will deter future investors from conducting business in Scotland, ultimately crushing its economy, tourism and hospitality industries.”

Harvie is actually an opposition member of the Scottish Parliament, with the Greens holding only five seats.

“At a critical time when politicians must focus on saving lives and reopening businesses in Scotland, they are focused on promoting their personal agendas,” added Eric Trump.

“As a company, the Trump Organization has invested hundreds of millions of dollars in the Scottish economy, rescued Turnberry, a Scottish national treasure on the brink of collapse, and rebuilt it into one of the best resorts in the world. In both Aberdeen and Turnberry, the Trump Organization has created thousands of jobs and made an overwhelming contribution to the leisure and tourism industry.

“Today, both fields have been recognized for their iconism with countless accolades. Trump Turnberry and Trump International Scotland topped the lists of the 100 best golf courses in the world and both properties received the highest awards in the Top 100: the best golf courses and resorts of the United Kingdom and Ireland, with Turnberry in the number 1 and Aberdeen at No 2. “

US prosecutors are investigating the finances of the Trump Organization and Trump’s tax liabilities, with significant loans to Trump from Deutsche Bank worth about $ 340 million (£ 249 million) to be repayable in 2023 and 2024.

The Trump Organization has always been adamant that its Scottish golf courses were purchased without any outside funding. Nevertheless, the New York Times reported that in 2016, during the presidential campaign, Trump sought an additional loan from Deutsche Bank to finance his Turnberry remodel, using his Doral resort in Miami as collateral.
