Family Movies for Christmas Eve

Christmas is the ideal time to spend it with the family and liven it up with a good movie session. These are some of the best options to enjoy a Christmas movie during Christmas Eve dinner.

‘Home alone’

The movie starring Macaulay Culkin in 1990, launched the young man to fame actor, which gave life to Kevin McCallister. The film tells the story of an eight-year-old boy (Culkin) who must defend his home from two thieves (Pesci and Stern) after being accidentally left home alone at Christmas.


‘Elf’ is a Christmas comedy film directed by Jon Favreau and starring Will Ferrell, James Caan y Zooey Deschanel. On Christmas Eve in 1973, an orphaned baby crawls into Santa’s sack. When he is discovered at the North Pole, he is adopted by Papa Duende, who baptizes the boy as Buddy.

‘Polar Express’

Directed by Robert Zemeckis starring Tom Hanks and using motion capture technology for his animation, Polar Express presents the emotional journey of a boy aboard a train heading to the North Pole, where he will discover that magic exists, as long as you believe in it .


Of Spanish production, and with Oscar nomination included, the animated film Klaus tells the story of a postman who is sent to a remote town in the North Pole where he meets an amiable carpenter who turns out to be none other than Santa Claus himself.

‘El Grinch’

A Christmas classic where they exist. The festive little town of Villa Who faces a creature known as The Grinch, played exaggeratedly and masterfully by Jim Carrey, whose greatest ambition is to ruin Christmas for his neighbors.

‘Arthur Christmas: gift operation’

Another Christmas story in animation format. An old and tired Santa Claus wants to retire, and to leave all his responsibility on his responsible but little cheerful son Steven. But everything gets complicated when one of the children who has been very good does not receive his gift, unleashing an adventure as entertaining as it is family.

With a Netflix original story, ‘The Christmas Chronicles’ tells the story of two brothers who cause an accident in the sleigh of a somewhat eccentric Santa Claus, played by Kurt Russell. From that moment, they will have to live with Santa Claus until they manage to save the Christmas spirit. The second installment features a much more dangerous villain, who aims to destroy Christmas forever.
