Fantasy Defense Rankings Week 10: Who To Start With, Sit D / ST In Fantasy Football

Our Week 10 fantasy defense rankings feature most of the usual cleats at the top, but the sleeper D / STs that always emerge are harder to pin down than usual. Not only have several favorable matchups been eliminated due to byes, but some potential waiver streamers are up for grabs as we wait to see who starts as quarterback for a couple of teams.

Fortunately, only one D / ST, Cincinnati, which is even a semi-regular start, is off this week due to byes. No one will miss the defenses of the Giants, Texans or Bears, but we will certainly miss being able to play D / STs. against those offenses. That eliminates at least some high-end options and possible sleepers.

There are still several favorable confrontations; Unfortunately, most of it goes to D / ST which are already owned by most leagues. This likely means that fewer homeowners will need to use the waiver wire to find a streaming option, but if you’re in the group that does, you can try the Eagles (@ Broncos), Raiders (vs. Chiefs), or Titans (vs. .Saints).

Of course, the Titans’ sleeper status likely depends on who’s starting under the New Orleans center. Taysom Hill isn’t a great passer, but his running ability limits potential capture and INT opportunities for defenses. Tennessee isn’t too strong of a defense, so it really needs the big play opportunities that Trevor Siemian is most likely to provide. The same is true for the Packers (against the Seahawks), who would jump into the top 10 if Geno Smith starts in place of Russell Wilson (finger) again. The Seahawks themselves would jump into streamer territory if Jordan Love starts in place of Aaron Rodgers (reserve / COVID roster) again.

Perhaps no defense would see a bigger change in the rankings based on opposing quarterbacks than Carolina (@ Cardinals). If Kyler Murray (ankle) starts, the Panthers are practically unusable despite several big weeks this year. If Colt McCoy is below center, Carolina has a top-10 lead. For now, we expect Murray to start, but stay on top of that throughout the week.

There aren’t many regular headlines that aren’t considered for tough matchups. Miami and San Francisco saw spikes in ownership levels last week, but with the meetings against the Ravens and Rams, respectively, neither should be considered this week. New Orleans (@ Titans) is in a tough spot too, but a Tennessee offense without Derrick Henry isn’t all that scary.

There are plenty of good D / ST options this week, but there could be even more depending on the injury news. Be prepared to upgrade if the opportunity presents itself, even if it means wearing two D / STs for part of the week.

Note: We will update these D / ST rankings throughout the week, so check back for the latest player movement and analysis.
