Fantasy Injury Updates: Latest News on Kadarius Toney, Deebo Samuel, Rob Gronkowski, More Shocking Decisions to Start or Sit in Week 8

Kadarius Toney, Deebo Samuel, Rob Gronkowski, Sterling Shepard, Kenny Golladay and TY Hilton appear to be heading for wearing “questionable” labels to Week 8. The Giants ‘group of pass receivers has affected calls from start’ em, sit ’em seemingly all year, and Gronkowski and Hilton have been no strangers to the injury report, either. Samuel was a surprising name on the injury report, as there was no indication that he was hit on Sunday night. We have the latest injury updates before your fantasy to start, make decisions.

WEEK 8 FANTASY: Sleepers | Busts | Get started, feel them

Kadarius Toney injury update

UPGRADE: Toney missed practice Thursday.

Like his teammate Saquon Barkley (ankle), Toney (ankle) did not practice Wednesday, but worked on a side field with coaches. It is too early to know if he will play Kansas City, but we may not know until Monday night. With so many Giants pass receivers dealing with the injury bug, many fantasy owners are changing this week as their game isn’t until Monday.

Let’s keep this simple: If Toney, Sterling Shepard, and Kenny Golladay are all out, Darius Slayton is a must-have start. If any of the three are active but the others are not, they also feel like a must start. If everyone is healthy, Shepard seems like the best option, but Toney has the biggest advantage based on what we’ve seen so far. Dante Pettis will have something of value again if all the boys in question are ruled out. Make sure to monitor all of these guys as close to Monday as possible.

Deebo Samuel injury update

Samuel (calf) unexpectedly appeared on the 49ers injury report and missed practice on wednesday. This feels more like a veteran’s day off than a worrisome injury, and Kyle Shanahan is optimistic Samuel will play Chicago in Week 8.

Chicago’s defense has looked great at times and terrible at times, but Samuel is a must-start if he’s in the lineup. It represents just over 44 percent of San Francisco’s total receiving yards and has a target share of 34 percent. Regardless of the showdown, it will be a great target, especially while George Kittle (calf) stays out of IR for another week.

We classify Samuel as our WR16 in the standard and PPR leagues. Jimmy G has struggled, but Samuel’s volume and YAC’s ability set his ceiling on a WR1 performance.

WEEK 8 STANDARD RATINGS:
Field marshal | Running backwards | Wide receiver | Tight end | D / ST | Kicker

Rob Gronkowski injury update

Gronk (ribs) Expected to play in Week 8 against the Saints, marking his first game action since Week 3. This will undoubtedly be a huge boost for Gronk owners who have likely been broadcasting tight ends in recent weeks. That said, there’s a chance he could be on a quick count, but his lead makes him a must-start, even against a Saints defense that gives up the fourth fewest fantasy points to tight ends.

We classify it as the TE8 in standard and TE10 in the PPR leagues. Even though we knocked him down due to some concerns, you’re still not on the bench as a top-10 tight end.

Sterling Shepard injury update

UPGRADE: Shepard returned to practice Thursday.

Shepard was another Giants player who I just worked with the coaches on Wednesday, and he’s in the same boat as other Shattered Giants. See Kadarius Toney’s section of the post to solve this injury-plagued skill group in New York.

If he plays, we like all the Giants WRs best and we rate him WR24 in standard and WR23 in PPR. In tough matchups, he’s much more valuable in the PPR leagues, but against Kansas City, he can rack up a ton of catches. and yards.

Kenny Golladay injury update

UPGRADE: Golladay missed practice Thursday.

Golladay was also among the group that I worked with the coaches on Wednesday and he thinks it will be questionable for week 8 as well. Check out Kadarius Toney’s post section to see how we try to make sense of this complicated Giants pass catcher situation. With so many dudes hit, it’s a tough road to go down because the game isn’t up to. Monday.

TY Hilton injury update

Hilton (quadruple) I did not practice on Wednesday after a week he didn’t practice at all and was eventually ruled out for Sunday Night Football. This is another fluid situation, so we’ll have to keep a close eye on it. Hilton will face Tennessee if he’s ready to go on Sunday.

Even after Tennessee successfully shut down the Chiefs’ offense, they are still last in the league in points allowed for fantasy WRs. With that in mind, Hilton is a flexible high stakes / high potential game in all formats. We rank it WR34 in standard and WR36 in the PPR leagues.
