Fantasy QB Rankings Week 8: Who to start, sit down as a quarterback in fantasy football

The season is flying by, and Week 8 is set up as one without a ton of breaks and injury worries at the quarterback. We welcome numerous fantasy studs after their free time and have plenty of potential sleepers with favorable matchmaking at our disposal. Our week 8 fantasy QB rankings are as stacked as you’ll find it this time of year.

Derek Carr and Lamar Jackson are off the table this week due to goodbyes, but we welcome Josh Allen (against Dolphins), Dak Prescott (@ Vikings), assuming his calf injury is healed, and Justin Herbert (against Patriots). ), among others. Now you can move those guys into your lineups so they never get touched again. Tom Brady (@ Saints) and Herbert (vs. Patriots) are the only top-tier studs with matchmaking concerns, but as always, they should still start.

There are a lot of guys in the start or sit bubble who have appeal this week. Teddy Bridgewater (vs. Washington), Daniel Jones (@ Chiefs), Jameis Winston (vs. Buccaneers), Carson Wentz (vs. Titans), Sam Darnold (@ Falcons) and Ryan Tannehill (@ Colts) are top of the list. If you don’t own Tannehill yet, this means nothing to you because it is not available in most leagues. However, all of the other types mentioned are at least somewhat achievable on most waiver cables. You can most likely go for one of these guys if you’re looking for a streamer. They all face bottom 10 defenses against the quarterbacks. (The quarterbacks are listed in order from worst defense to best defense.) We understand if you feel like playing Trevor Lawrence (@ Seahawks), but we like some of the other options with safer floors better.

Matt Ryan (vs. Panthers), Joe Burrow (@ Jets) and Tua Tagovailoa (@ Bills) are among quarterbacks with matchup concerns that really make us hesitate. Ryan has been a boom-or-bust candidate throughout his career, with no silver lining, and while Carolina’s defense has struggled in recent weeks, its seven forwards should outpace Atlanta’s offensive line and make a living. Ryan’s miserable. Tua has shown he can add up big numbers in good matchups, but we don’t trust him in Buffalo.

Burrow is a slightly more difficult call. The Jets’ pass defense has impressed most weeks. In fact, heading into Week 7, New York had allowed the quarterbacks the fourth fewest fantasy points per game before allowing Mac Jones’ good day. If the Jets defense plays the best it can, it’s obviously bad news for Burrow. However, given what we’ve seen from Burrow and the Bengals’ offense this year, we can’t recommend benching him. They are more likely to be closer to the elite, the “must have” class.

It’s worth noting that Bridgewater looked limping on Thursday Night Football against Cleveland, so his injury status needs to be monitored. Also, Tyrod Taylor (hamstring) has a chance to get back to practice this week so he could be in play soon, although we wouldn’t touch him against the Rams. The same goes for Baker Mayfield (left shoulder) if he comes back against the Steelers.

Many of you have survived the brutal bye week at QB and will have a “must start” guy in the lineup for the rest of the season. Injuries, COVID complications, and future bye weeks will continue to shake things up. We’ll make sense of it all each week, so keep checking out our weekly Fantasy QB rankings.
