Fantasy Waiver Wire Week 7: D’Ernest Johnson and Rashaad Penny among the best free agent players

Six-team byes are always painful, but when you combine key RB and WR injuries, they’re particularly brutal. That is why the Top Week 7 Fantasy Waiver Transfer Pickups and Free Agent Additions presents a who’s who of … “who?” Wives like D’Ernest Johnson, Rhamondre Stevenson, JD McKissic, and Rashaad Penny could demand much higher exemption claims than they should, while bordering WR3s like Donovan Peoples-Jones and TY Hilton they will be mandatory additions after exemptions clear around 4-5 am ET on Wednesday mornings in the ESPN and Yahoo leagues.

Yeah … yuck. Our full list of free agents features even more of these types of players, many of whom land somewhere between week-long streamers and multi-week potential contributors. There are also many less-owned types that we’ve apparently recommended picking up throughout the season due to volume or mid-level production (Mark Ingram, Michael carter, Tim patrick, Christian kirk) that are more likely to “clean up” this week. Of course, given the heavy dose of inactive players, we also have plenty of Week 7-specific streamer suggestions on QB, WR, TE, and D / ST, which can be found in the end of this list. If you are looking for a new kicker or just like to click on links on the internet, check out our Week 7 kicker standings.

PLUS WEEK 7: Complete list of exemptions

It appears Johnson will require a high exemption transfer claim (although that could change if we get a positive report on Nick Chubb Tuesday night), and both Penny and McKissic could do so as well, given Antonio Gibson’s precarious injury situations and Alex Collins. . It is also possible for an owner with a specific need in a position like TE or QB to use a high claim on someone like Ricky Seals-Jones or Tua TagovailoaAlthough that is not recommended unless you are really desperate and there are no other good options. A low claim on players like that is fine, but not a claim in the top five.

Ultimately this is a tough week as the best pills could be worth several weeks or be useless starting this week. It really depends on the injury prospects, and we won’t know about them when we have to make our decisions. Focus on the needs of your team and be smart with the moves.

Best Fantasy Football Waiver Wire Pickups for Week 7

Unless otherwise noted, only players owned less than 50 percent of the Yahoo leagues considered.

D’Ernest Johnson, RB, Browns. With Kareem Hunt (calf) out four to six weeks and Nick Chubb (calf) likely “questionable” at best by Thursday night, Johnson could take on the lead role against Denver. Even if Chubb comes back, we know the Browns like to mix in a second back frequently, so there is potential flexible value with Johnson, especially during bye weeks. The main concern is that Demetric Felton plays more than we suspect, but Johnson has been the main backup in the past (remember his 95-yard game in Dallas last year?), So we hope he sees the added touches. If Chubb is out, Johnson will be worth a higher exemption claim; however, we likely do not know the status of Chubb when filing FAAB claims and offers, so it is a difficult decision to know what to do here. Ultimately, it all comes down to how badly you need a broker this week.

Michael Carter, RB, Jets. Players who come out of the byes are often forgotten, but Carter deserves to be in more than 52 percent of Yahoo’s leagues. He hasn’t had great yardage days, but he has seen more than 13 touches in three of the last four games and scored in each of the last two contests. He seems to be establishing himself as New York’s leading running back, and even in tough matchups like this week against New England, that has value. Add it now.

PLUS WEEK 7: Complete list of exemptions

Rashaad Penny, RB, Seahawks. Penny (calf) could be one of those fantasy ghosts that is always more hype than substance. The often injured fourth-year running back has had a few moments, but nothing substantial. However, he’s set to get out of the IR this week, and could find himself in a starting role against New Orleans on Monday night. We know Chris Carson (neck) will be out for at least two more weeks, and Alex Collins injured his hip at the end of Seattle’s loss to Pittsburgh. DeeJay Dallas and Travis Homer are more of a change-of-pace runners, so if Collins can’t go, Penny should get most of the running back touches. The Saints aren’t an easy matchup, but Penny certainly has value if she’s going to see 12-15 carries.

WEEK 7 STANDARD RATINGS:
Field marshal | Running backwards | Wide receiver | Tight end | D / ST | Kicker

Marquez Callaway, WR, Saints. The last time we saw Callaway, he was catching two touchdowns in Week 5. With an excellent matchup against the Seahawks in Week 7, he is one of the best broadcast options, but it could be more than that depending on the other WRs out there. come back for the Saints. . Michael Thomas (ankle) is reportedly still a couple weeks away, but Tre’Quan Smith (hamstring) is eligible to return at any time. Callaway could actually benefit from another decent receiver to draw attention away from him. Either way, he’s worth taking as a free agent during a six-team break.

Tua Tagovailoa, QB, Dolphins. Tagovailoa posted solid stats on his return from the IR (329 passing yards, 22 rushing yards, two TDs), and gets another great showdown in Week 7 against Atlanta. It doesn’t always look pretty on Tua, but the only thing fantasy owners care about is the final stat line. In a week where Dak Prescott, Josh Allen, Justin Herbert and Kirk Cousins (among others) are out, Tagovailoa is at the QB1 limit. He’s available in 83 percent of Yahoo’s leagues, and there’s a chance he’s a better option this week than your regular substitute or starter.
