The Dr. Anthony Fauci, the White House’s top adviser on the COVID-19 pandemic, said that, Although it is almost impossible to have new quarantine orders, the situation due to infections in the country will worsen in the coming weeks.
“I don’t think we are going to see quarantines. I think we have a sufficient percentage of (vaccinated) people in the country, not enough to crush the outbreak, but I believe enough to not allow us to get into the situation we had last winter, ”Fauci assured on ABC News. “Things are going to get worse.”
Coronavirus infections have increased throughout the country, even in states where they had remained at low levels, such as New York, where they went from just over 400 to over 3,000 a day in a week, but entities registered records, such as Florida with more than 21,000 new cases.
In the last 24 hours, the US registered a total of 52,898 new cases, although the levels of deaths have not increased dramatically with 241 new deaths.
“If you look at the acceleration in the number of cases, the seven-day average has increased substantially,” Fauci acknowledged.

The expert warned that the most serious cases and deaths are of people who have not been vaccinated, so he urged access to immunization.
“We have 100 million people in this country who are eligible to get vaccinated and who are not. We are seeing an outbreak among the unvaccinated “, he expressed. “From the point of view of illness, hospitalization, suffering and death, the unvaccinated are much more vulnerable, because the vaccinated are protected from serious diseases, for the most part.”
He added that unvaccinated people put themselves and others at risk by allowing the virus to spread.
The government of the president Joe Biden is concerned about the slow progress of vaccination in recent weeks, so it launched new efforts to increase rates, including paying $ 100 to people who come for their doses of Pfizer, Moderna or Johnson and Johnson.
After unveiling the new White House plan, the president gave a message urging state, local and territorial governments to use funds from the American Rescue Plan (ARP) to encourage the population.
“The American Rescue Plan … provided states, territories and localities with resources that can be used to provide incentives to increase vaccination rates,” a document said. “The President will call on all states, territories, and local governments to use these funds … to provide $ 100 to anyone who gets vaccinated.”.
The Biden Administration also regrets having had to return to mandatory indoor mask use in regions where there are more COVID-19 cases.
The new rules from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) indicate that face protection will be required.
“The Delta variant shows every day its willingness to outsmart us,” said the Dra. Rochelle Walensky, in a telephone press conference. “This is not a decision we make … lightly … This weighs heavily on me.”
