The Chairman of Iberdrola, Ignacio Sánchez Galán, assures in a letter that has been presented by the judge investigating the relationship of the company with companies linked to the former commissioner Jose Villarejo what has never held any position in the renewable subsidiary, company charged for that reason.

The letter indicates that the order of the judge of the National Court Manuel García Castellón of last Friday the 9th, which imputes Iberdrola Renovables for the irregular hiring of Cenyt, a company linked to Villarejo, contains errors, and urges the magistrate to rectify them.

Sánchez Galán “has never held any position in the administrative bodies of that company -Iberdrola Renovables-, so what is said in the order of July 9 is not correct ” in the sense that he was president of the company charged “at the time of hiring and execution” of the aforementioned works.

On June 23, the head of the central investigating court No. 6 charged Sánchez Galán with the irregular hiring of companies linked to Villarejo; in that car, the magistrate emphasized that “The works were developed at two different times.”

The first of them, at the end of 2011, and the second from 2016, but according to the brief presented by Sánchez Galán “neither in 2011 nor in 2016 nor at any time did he hold the position of Chairman of Iberdrola Renovables or another position in the company’s management body “.

The document indicates to the judge that this can be verified in the Mercantile Registry of Valencia, and also adds a certificate in this regard issued by the secretary of the board of directors of Iberdrola Renovables.

In your writing, Sánchez Galán also refers to the procedural situation of the person who was responsible for Corporate Control Jose Antonio del Olmo, which in the car last Friday is mentioned as a “witness” when in reality he is “investigated.”

The judge dismissed a complaint filed by Iberdrola against Del Olmo, for allegedly falsifying a document that he himself had prepared to warn of payments to a company “that could be Cenyt”, from Villarejo.

However, Sánchez Galán reminds the judge that in November 2020 “attributed to the indicated man the status of being investigated for his alleged participation in a crime of bribery”, condition “that has not been altered after that date”.

The free dismissal decreed with respect to Del Olmo “is in relation to a crime of falsehood, which has nothing to do with the crime of bribery, which, as has been seen, motivated his indictment in the case, at the request of the Prosecutor’s Office” , Add.

For all this, and in order to “correct development of the cause”, the president of Iberdrola urges the judge to rectify and correct these errors.
