Google improves the process to remove your personal data from searches

This is all you need to do if you want Google to remove your personal and sensitive information from its search results.

In the digital ecosystem in which we live, it is always important to check, on a regular basis, that our personal data is not in Google search, unless we have actually given it away.

In this way, if you are not interested in personal data such as your telephone number, email, postal address or even more sensitive data such as bank account appearing in the search results, Google is expanding its options to be able to eliminate all this personal information in a much simpler and more direct way.

And it is that Google has announced new options to remove our personally identifiable information from search results under a new expansion of the policy where now anyone can request the removal of additional types of information when found in search results.

This tool also allows for the removal of additional information that may pose a risk of identity theft such as login credentials.

In the announcement of these new options to remove our non-consensual personal information from search results, they comment that “the availability of personal contact information online can be jarring, and can be used in harmful ways, including for direct unwanted contact or even physical harm”.

People have told us that they would like the ability to remove this type of information from search in some cases”, they add.

Once they receive the removal request, they will evaluate all the content on the web page to take into account if it appears within any news site. On the other hand, they will also see if your information appears as part of the public record on the sites of government or official sources. In those cases it would not be removed.

It should be noted that removing content from Google search results it does not completely remove it from the internetbecause this information may also be indexed by other search engines that work with different companies such as Microsoft’s Bing.

They also recommend that in certain cases we contact those responsible for the website hosting our personal information to ask them to remove it.

So to remove personal information from Google search engines you must enter this website and fill out a form. It should be noted that filling out this form does not mean that they will remove your personal information from the results, and however you will have to provide real documents so that they can verify that you are the person you really claim to be.

From there, an investigation process will be opened where those responsible for Google will assess whether or not to definitively remove your information from its search results, a process that could take time depending on the case.
