«Gunter» manages to stay in front of the general with a single point of advantage over «Basic Logic»

Puerto Portals (Mallorca)

The second round of the V Puerto Portals Dragon Winter Series has concluded today in the Bay of Palma with the dispute of two tests marked by the low intensity of the wind. The competition has reached its halfway point with the general classification very compressed in the top positions, proof of the equality existing between the teams gathered this weekend in Puerto Portals.

Gunter, by Javier Scherk, who today has won the first round and was twelfth in the next, retains the lead, but sees his advantage reduced to a single point compared to Basic Logic, by Werner Deuring, whose regularity in the last two days (4 + 4 + 2 + 2) has made him climb to the second position. Michael Cäsar Zankel’s Powwow is third, albeit 11 points behind the leader.

The participants have been able to do without their first result for the moment. The next discard will come into play from the fifteenth round.

The Race Committee has managed to carry out two rounds today in very difficult conditions. The first departure was at 11.00 am with 7 knots and the weather vane pointing NE. The situation has changed when the sky has cleared and the wind has begun to turn yellow, as it usually happens in the Bay of Palma when the east blows. However, the organization has been able to start a second test in which it has been necessary to shorten the route, leaving it in three sections, after a 10-degree roll was produced.

The three days of the second round of the V Puerto Portals Dragon Winter Series have been played with Gregal’s wind and with variable intensities that have not exceeded 12 knots. The 17 crews present in the Bay of Palma have had to use themselves thoroughly in the tactical aspect. While Gunter has held firm to the lead from day one, the dance of positions has been consistent from second to sixth. Basic Logic was the best of the weekend thanks to its good performance this Sunday. Rosie, from Morgen Benjamin, was very strong after linking three consecutive victories, but today was not her day and she added a 12 + 9 that could weigh down her chances of obtaining a podium finish at the end of the competition.

The following events of the V Puerto Portals Dragon Winter Series will take place from January 7 to 9 and from January 28 to 30, in which the composition of the final podium of the competition organized by the Puerto Portals Regatta Club will be known. in which 17 vessels from seven countries participate.

In addition to the Winter Series, Puerto Portals will host the V Mediterranean Cup of the Dragon class from February 18 to 20, 2022, in which it expects a great participation.
