Health registers 21,371 new cases and 308 deaths

The autonomous communities have notified the Ministry of Health this Friday 21,371 new cases of COVID-19, 8,775 of them diagnosed in the last 24 hours. This is a lower figure than the 22,516 on the same day the previous week.

The Global number of infections in Spain already rises to 1,458,591 since the start of the pandemic, according to official statistics. The accumulated incidence in the last 14 days per 100,000 inhabitants stands at 498, compared to 504 yesterday and 525 last Friday, with a total of 234,280 positives in the past two weeks.

Of the 8,775 positives diagnosed yesterday, 789 have been produced in Andalusia, 630 in Aragon, 664 in Asturias, 111 in the Balearic Islands, 93 in the Canary Islands, 226 in Cantabria, 123 in Castilla-La Mancha, 28 in Castilla y León, 1,208 in Catalonia, 45 in Ceuta, 275 in the Valencian Community, 311 in Extremadura, 672 in Galicia, 1,519 in Madrid, 16 in Melilla, 383 in Murcia, 218 in Navarra, 1,293 in the Basque Country and 171 in La Rioja.

In this Friday’s report they have been added 308 new deaths, compared to 356 yesterday and 347 last Friday. In the last week, 1,315 people with a confirmed positive COVID-19 diagnosis have died in Spain. Until 40,769 people with a positive diagnostic test have died since the virus arrived in Spain, according to the data collected by the Ministry.

This is how the 1,315 deaths in the last week: 211 in Andalusia, 170 in Aragon, 116 in Asturias, eight in the Balearic Islands, 13 in the Canary Islands, 16 in Cantabria, 61 in Castilla-La Mancha, 180 in Castilla y León, 42 in Catalonia, six in Ceuta, 92 in the Valencian Community, 49 in Extremadura, 86 in Galicia, 95 in Madrid, six in Melilla, 61 in Murcia, 39 in Navarra, 42 in the Basque Country and 22 in La Rioja.

Nowadays, there are 20,296 patients admitted for COVID-19 throughout Spain (20,525 yesterday) and 3,125 in the UCI (3,123 yesterday). In the last 24 hours, there have been 2,117 entries (2,204 yesterday) and 2,241 discharges (2,342 yesterday). The occupancy rate of beds occupied by coronavirus is already at 16.15 percent (16.47% yesterday) and in ICUs at 31.75 percent (31.96% yesterday).

In the last week until 5,121 people have required hospitalization due to coronavirus, 175,477 since the virus arrived in Spain: 903 in Andalusia, 354 in Aragon, 499 in Asturias, 63 in the Balearic Islands, 87 in the Canary Islands, 64 in Cantabria, 126 in Castilla-La Mancha, 754 in Castilla y León, 261 in Catalonia, 26 in Ceuta, 498 in the Valencian Community, 157 in Extremadura, 337 in Galicia, 335 in Madrid, 17 in Melilla, 362 in Murcia, 124 in Navarra, 59 in the Basque Country and 95 in La Rioja.

In this same period have been admitted to the intensive care unit (UCI) a total of 433 people (14,734 in the global count of the pandemic): 49 in Andalusia, 27 in Aragon, 30 in Asturias, 15 in the Balearic Islands, 11 in the Canary Islands, two in Cantabria, 12 in Castilla-La Mancha, 39 in Castilla y León, 17 in Catalonia, two in Ceuta, 45 in the Valencian Community, 19 in Extremadura, 50 in Galicia, 18 in Madrid, five in Melilla, 51 in Murcia, 20 in Navarra, 13 in the Basque Country and eight in The Rioja.
