Hercules faces his fiery test of January fiercely

When things are going well it is best to touch them as little as possible. With this premise, Hercules goes to the winter market to face the second part of the competition. The intention of the club is to make a maximum of two incorporations to complete the squad in search of promotion. The team is warned that January is normally a month in which projects get stuck, so the premiere against bottom Marchamalo is going to be a great litmus test for a Hercules who walks fiercely in search of his sixth consecutive victory . The blue and white club has only stopped going to the winter market twice in the last decade, the 2010-11 seasons, when it was in the First Division, and in 2008-09, in the Second Division when, led by Juan Carlos Mandiá, the team was on the verge of promotion to the First Division reaching the figure of 78 points.

The biggest revolution came in the 2012-13 academic year, when they joined siete footballers to reverse a critical situation, as the team seemed doomed to decline. Those reinforcements, led from the bench by Quique Hernández, achieved salvation.

Sergio Mora is aware of what usually happens in January, although this time the project aims very differently from other seasons. The most significant case of a bad start to the year occurred in the 2014-2015 season and ended with the dismissal of Pacheta when Hercules was fourth. It was a January 25 and the team had added only two of the last twelve possible points. He went from leading the ranking to fourth.

Pacheta was replaced Manolo Herrero, who debuted on the Hércules bench with a victory in the visit to Elche Ilicitano (0-2) thanks to goals from Adri Cuevas and Fernando. A week later, the Blue and Whites took a tough correction at Rico Pérez against Nàstic (0-3) and the next defeat at Sant Andreu ended their chances of reaching first place.

In January 2016 Herrero experienced the same situation as his colleague Pacheta twelve months earlier. The Andalusian coach said goodbye to 2015 with a draw in the visit to Olot (0-0) and resumed the League with a loud puncture in Rico Pérez (2-2) against the modest Llosetense. On the following day he was able to win in the visit to Atlético Levante (0-1) with a goal from Chechu Flores but the defeat in the derby against Alcoyano (0-2) precipitated his departure from the Blue and White bench.

Herrero was replaced by a Vicente Mir who debuted with a defeat in the visit to Villarreal B (3-1). After falling at Rico Pérez against Barcelona B (0-2) his Hercules said goodbye to the option of finishing as champion but began a huge run of positive results in which he managed to chain 16 games without losing, of which he won eleven and tied five. Like Herrero a year before, Mir was also eliminated by Cádiz in the promotion. His good numbers weighed less than his bad management of the squad and the club chose not to renew him and bet on Tevenet. The technician never felt comfortable and in March he was fired after linking several negative results.

Siviero, now Intercity coach, took command in the 18-19 season, but it only lasted two months and Claudio Barragán took office, but after six games without winning in a bad month of January he was dismissed in February.

The starts of the year have not been good for a long time. Planagumà was not lucky either and after starring in an unbeatable start he was falling little by little after going through a January in which the team said goodbye to first place and dropped to sixth place.

In the 19-20 season Vicente Mir was fired in February. He arrived at the club in December and in the nine games he led the team, eight in the League and one in the Copa del Rey, he could only achieve two victories.

To finish off the streak of black Jannes, David Cubillo last season became the ninth coach to leave the Hercules bench with a contract in force in the seven consecutive seasons that the Alicante team had accumulated in Second B.

There are reasons to be careful with this month.
