Hercules have chained a new disaster this Sunday with their first defeat of the season at home against Atlético Levante (0-1) that almost definitely moves you away from the first three places and, except for surprise, it will force him to fight in the second phase for the Pro League with fewer and fewer options to enter that new League and avoid the disaster of what would be in practice a relegation to the fourth category of Spanish football. A full-blown failure founded on the little consistency of the team to overcome the plague of injuries that continues to suffer.

Hercules paid in the first act, once again, for his lack of punch and fang; his little mordant in attack. He was not brilliant in the game, although he arrived enough not to go at a disadvantage at the break. The visiting goalkeeper Pablo Cuñat made up to four merit interventions to deny the goal twice to Armando in two very powerful shots from the edge of the area, to Benja in a header from behind from very close and to the debutant Sidoel. Appin also had his option to shoot inside the area, but the visiting defense blocked the shot.

But not. The blue and white team was soft and harmless in the last meters and ended up paying dearly. Well protected by its goalkeeper, the Granota subsidiary led by former Herculaneum Pabo Íñiguez weathered the storm and made the most of his only chance. After half an hour of play, Blesa filtered a good pass that surpassed the central axis of Manolo Díaz’s men, in the middle and in defense, and Cantero defined the race in hand-to-hand against Falcón.

The blue and white coach left Moyita on the bench, who does not finish recovering his physical tone, and gave the ownership to Sidoel as a hitch in place of David Sánchez. On this occasion, the muscle injured each week was the central Moisés García, who with a broken soleus left his place in the “eleven” for Portuguese Romain. As usual, Hercules started with rhythm and up to six corners in his favor in the first 20 minutes, but was unable to take advantage of his territorial dominance due to his lack of aggressiveness and accuracy in the last meters. The team wants to, but it seems they can’t. It lacks authority and government of the parties. Deprived of key players such as Pedro Sánchez and Raúl -not to mention Acuña’s endless misfortune-, he tries from the outside and fails to activate the wingers Jesús Alfaro and Borja Martínez with danger, nor do the full-backs help in the deployment.

After the break, Manolo Díaz admitted Teo Quintero for the admonished Romain and introduced a triple change -Moyita, Manu Garrido and Abde- in minute 57 to try the comeback. Hercules had a little more spark, but Atlético Levante forgave the 0-2 sentence in a counter after the hour of play.

Spurred on by the rush and the historic urgency of the club, the Blue and Whites pushed with more heart than head and scored a goal in the 67th minute between Manu Garrido and the Levantine defense, but the referee canceled it without the reason being clear. The referee pointed to his hand in reference to an offense by the Herculaneum attacker.

Luck did not accompany Manolo Díaz’s team either, and Álex Martínez hit the crossbar with a direct free kick in the 76th minute in the last attempt by a broken team sinking into impotence.
