‘Hey dad, wanna have a catch?’: Ken Griffey Sr., Ken Griffey Jr. kick off ‘Field of Dreams’ game

The moment we’ve all been waiting for has finally arrived, and it kicked off with a bittersweet moment. Former Cincinnati Reds and Hall of Famer father and son duo Ken Griffey Sr. and Ken Griffey Jr. walked out of the corn field together to share a catch, and it was emotional. Griffery Jr. asked “Hey dad, wanna have a catch?” one of the most iconic lines from the film.”I’d like that,” Griffey Sr. said. The two shared a catch as other fathers and their kids emerged from the field to toss together. Sharing a catch with your dad is something many people cherish, including Reds’ first baseman Joey Votto. Votto shared on Twitter that this game is so meaningful to him because he and his father would play catch together. He said it was the most important thing that they did together and strengthen their bond. “In Field of Dreams, the movie ends with the main character, Ray, and the ghost of his father having ‘a catch’… My father passed away 14+ years ago. So it is impossible for me not to feel an emotional connection to the moment where Ray asks his father for a catch. One more moment together,” Votto said.
