High influx of public to the Alicante Cemetery on All Saints’ Day

The Local Police has established nine pedestrian entry and exit routes for avoid any crowding. The Alicante City Council has designed this year a police operation with more than 200 agents and the participation of the Air Resources Unit, with the use of drones to control the capacity in the cemetery, which is six thousand visitors.

The mayor responsible for the area, José Ramón González (PP), recalls that because of the pandemic, “exceptional measures such as internal circuits, the use of masks is required, which is mandatory, and a greater presence of the Local Police ”. Agents have the collaboration of Civil Protection volunteers to monitor capacity, security, prevent theft and street vending. The cycling brigade patrol through various points of the cemetery and agents will also walk inside to remember the mandatory nature of the masks, guarantee that the safety distances are met as well as the itineraries to direct the movement of people, and to help in case of incidents or falls . During this morning four assists were registered, two of them due to falls and lipothymias.

The device has a accompaniment service to help the elderly and the sick as well as people with reduced mobility. Regarding traffic management, there is a general itinerary monitored by the agents, regulated and with signage, with entrance through the Plaza de la Luna, Zodíaco avenue, Camino Borja, Camino de la Alcoraya and Plaza del Cementerio; and leaving via Vial de los Cipreses, Architect Miguel del Real, Zodíaco Avenue and Plaza de la Luna. Two parking areas have been set up, one on the Alcoraya road and the other on the Vial de los Cipreses, with 400 places, in addition to surface parking at the back door of the enclosure, with 100 spaces. In the public parking area, places have been reserved for taxis.

Regarding the schedules, The cemetery will be open from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., uninterruptedly at the main gate, and from 8:00 a.m. to 5:45 p.m. in the vehicle access and the new cemetery area. Today the entry of vehicles is prohibited throughout the premises. In addition, they have been authorized 11 temporary flower stalls in the immediate vicinity of the main gate, which will serve between 8 a.m. and 6 p.m.

Regarding public transport, a reinforcement of line 04 of the TAM -Plaza de España-Cementerio- departing from Tómbola and two special lines from Plaza de España .
