How can you schedule your Whatsapp messages?

The WhatsApp application does not allow you to schedule messages, so if you wake up in the middle of the night wanting to write something to someone and fearing that you will forget, the options are write an email and schedule it so that it arrives at the agreed time or put a reminder or warning note on your mobile to write it to less inopportune hours.

However, there are options to send a WhatsApp at an agreed time through other ‘apps’ that are combined with WhatsApp to perform functions that instant messaging application not yet performed, as is the case with WhatsApp Plus.

In addition to WhatsApp Plus, there are others on the market. Two that work very well are SKEDit -available for free on iOS and Android- and Wasavi -only for Android-. Once downloaded, these programs they work automaticallyopening the application, writing the recipient and copying the message.

Two ‘apps’ other than WhatsApp

To download the first one you have to search for ‘SKEDit Scheduling App‘ on the iOS App Store or Android Play Store. When you install and start it for the first time, it will ask you to register (with an email or with Facebook), although you can skip it and log in as a guest. For it to work correctly, it is necessary to give it access to a series of permissions: in addition to those required for installation, it will request accessibility to be able to open and send the WhatsApp message. The ‘app’ itself indicates which permissions must be modified and which menu they are in.

To schedule a message, select WhatsApp in the list from the ‘app’ and click on the ‘+’ where it says ‘Add WhatsApp contact’, select who it is addressed to and write the message, which can also be an audio or attach any file . Subsequently, you program the exact day and time you want it to be sent and select the ‘V’ that appears in the upper right corner. You can also program the same message to be repeated every x time (hour, day, week, month or year). The drawback is that the phone must be unlocked at the time the message is to be sent or it will not be sent. To solve it, you can check the “Ask me before sending” option, so that a notification pops up and then you can hit “Send”.

Android only

Wasavi, on the other hand, is just as Easy to use and you also don’t need to register or do anything complicated. What SKEDitit will also ask you for access to a series of permissions: accessibility, access to your contacts and permission to overlap other applications.

The overlay permission on top of other apps is used to display a floating toolbar on top of Whatsapp, while the accessibility permission is required for the app to serve its purpose. Access to the contacts is necessary to be able to program messages from the application itself, because one of the advantages of Wasavi is that, although it is an ‘app’ outside of Whatsapp, it is integrated into it.

After installing it, a bar appears at the top of each WhatsApp conversation, with direct access to schedule messages, calls and create notes. To program a message it can be done from the direct access or by opening directly Wasavi. The recipient is selected, the day and time are programmed, attachments are added -photo, video, file, audio- if desired and ‘Accept’ is pressed.

The drawback of Wasavi is that it doesn’t work if the phone has an unlock pattern, so the screen unlock must be by pin code or by swiping. Of course, the phone does not have to be unlocked to send the message automatically, as it happens with SKEDit.
